  1. Americans love 1776 halfpennies
  2. I really dont think you could do much worse than ebay myself - its ideal because of you location . First of all I would try to find out the coins you father in law paid the most for and SELL THEM FIRST on ebay , you are very lucky to have a record of all the prices paid so you can have a reasonable idea of what they will fetch . As for listing in groups always list four or five coins together and try and make them a date run and list in TWO catogories on ebay , its worth it for the extra views . If you have a full whitman folder list it with the coins and make sure you get a GOOD picture of both . DONT RUSH the sale and try to enjoy doing it - if you look on it as work it will become work. Set senseable minmum bids on coins your father in law paid a lot for or rare varieties.
  3. Saying that its a great coin if you can forget about the crack LOL
  4. this is just nasty - it is an e/r though and did cost 40p I am open to offers from scott LOL
  5. Look at this coin 1940 farthing - nothing rare there but in hand certainly it has the lovelest toneing I have ever seen lovely blues with a hint of lustre . Does anyone out there know why coins end up like this ?- it must be down to storage or something. I know they are all the rage in america and they have never really caught on here , but this coin might convert even me !
  6. I have a 1686 horrible grade but at least the dates clear
  7. The 1721/0 is not very clear on the picture above but if you get an eyeglass out its certainly that variety - it took me an age to get a cheap one as they rarely come up for sale so when they do there is a big demand for them esp if fine or better . I would say your stop after date is certainly around NVF , but I also find these coins hard to grade perhaps better to just say its much better than normally found. It is certainly a £60 or £70 coin to an avid farthing collector , could even get £100
  8. You have Put that pic on this thread B4 Paulus . Its still a belter though
  9. I am certain you would have peter
  10. Harder to find than you might think in this grade
  11. All three 1721 varieties 1721, 1721. and 1721/0
  12. Picked this up a couple of months ago rare , in fine or so grade for issue but light damage Still very nice though
  13. I will not post the obverse as that beauty above is much better than mine anyway
  14. will email you next few days ok colin
  15. NICE COPPER 1821 TONED FOR THOOSE WHO PREFER A COIN WITH NO LUSTRE
  16. Hi there colin , could you tell me if this is a 1841 high 1 farthing please
  17. I remember back in the seventies buying George Iv pennies just the common dates mind at 50p to a £1 same with halfpennies - I think you would really struggle to get your money back even now on then - stitched up is the word , I think most dealers sold modern (under 40 years old) to suckers at vast profits. Only now do we now understand how common some off these coins are mainly to do with ebay provideing a level playing field. Another thought back then we never really understood just how common 1839 and 1853 farthings are as well , I would suspect that many a collector in the seventies would have known they were common , but not how common.
  18. If I remember rightly the 1868 proofs were issued in a set third farthing , farthing ,halfpenny and penny or was that the 1877 bronze set ? I am sure someone out there knows
  19. Well i sold my coin in 2007 for around £25 and yours is for sale for around £42 so i think it is priced about right , it should not sell too fast but it also should not "stick" at that price .
  20. WWWWWWWWooooooo just like miy old one that one - same grade as well - you did not happen to buy it in 2007 did you?
