  1. I think these coins if it was made public in the press and in the media would easy fetch £250 each , after all they are much much rarer than the mule 20p and ten times rarer than kew gardens 50ps which are actually quite common. All it needs is for someone to leak this news to the daily mail and every chav in the county will be seaching their pockets looking for these coins (with no success, by the way!)
  2. I notice that gum tree is now flooded with folks selling peter rabit 50p coins at between £200 and £20 mostly , they fetch a much more reasonable £1 or so each on ebay , so logic says that they will never sell at these prices or is it just that many people out there have an over optimistic side to their nature. Or maybe they think their is a sucker around every corner.

    any ideas?

    Would giveit GVF myself
  4. The top coin there is a 1860 BB so not a 1861
  5. looks like it is almost certainly a hoard coin , very attracto too
  6. what surprises me is the amount of missatributed coins as well virtually all are just toothed border coins normally
  7. Mules are rare but I somehow think they are more common than most people thing , I suspect around 150 exist. Unlike that D over D farthing 1851 which really is rare at probably 30 in existance
  8. Yep I remember reading that in my BMC which sadly went astray in a house move 15 or so years ago
  9. Interesting idea about the 1806 farthings being produced over the years and put into circulation later ie up to 1812 or so , this would not really be unusual or unacceptable to the public at the time who were probably more interested in needing the small change at the time . Peck wrote a lot on these times and I am sure he never knew everything as records were 170 years old by the time of his book Also remember the surply of copper was to say the least intermitant at this time with the navy having first call as they were protecting us from the french and Napolean
  10. Would anyone like a ex rare blue peter 50p 2009 only £200
  11. That dot is very small - first time I have ever seen one of these good pic. This is one of those varieties that most farthing collectors dont bother with - not sure why
  12. obverse is only marginally over vf reverse about ef
  13. The fuller figure was all the rage as far as fasion was concerned back then . That britannia ain't no twiggy . George III was one of the few kings who never took mistresses as far as I know his wife was his only love- his eldest son never thought that way.
  14. Funny thing is I have noticed buyers picking out cartwheels from rumage boxes myself , even the ones in the poorest condition sell for £1 or so , I am not sure why these buyers want vast collections of low grade cartwheels , personally i would run a mile if someone wanted to show me his collection of low grade cartwheels . Take all sorts I surpose , surely they cannot be buying them as an investment . There again you often find that the thing nobody considers as an investment turns out to be the best investment. Certainly anything marketed as a "good investment" immediately raises my suspition that it will not be a good investment
  15. That IOM 1860 copper farthing looks a bit overpriced its very rare though
  16. That ebay item looks like its been dug up as well - I suspect £4.20 is just a bit of a freak result - I would suspect two unknowlageable bidders bidding against each other
  17. WAS IT YOU SELLING CHRIS? IF NOT SOMEONE MISJUDGED THE STOCK THEY NEEDED BADLY , LOL
  18. the strange thing is how did anyone lose a coin of that size ?
  19. Fair for the top and good fine for the bottom Values £2 and £12 , on the plus side the bottom coin has no edge knocks which could even get you £20 i surpose
  20. The sad thing is the days of cheap postage are now over and the post office will not be there in the future offering what it did in the past "a cheap service to every person in the uk" Even Magaret Thatcher refused to stick the knife in with the post office The post office is now a commercial organisation just like any other offering a rapidly declining product to everyone at an ever increasing cost (remember the railways everyone - that is now run on a similar model)
  21. nice portrait
  22. Long R variety and short R variety - sounds like a visit to the ENT doctor .
  23. Slightly week strike on the hair - normal really- you would do very well to find a better one though
  24. Handsome coin , just shows exactly how good the obverse portrait was and the reverse is a true classic , a coin to die for.
