  1. Virtually no contemporary forgerys exist (Unless anyone knows different) but there are a few modern copies that might be passed off as the real thing . Surely these will just be the key dates - 1869 and 1875 h penny etc
  2. I could just imagine ozzy osbourne in parliment singing this with crusifix and a load of bats flying round him Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind People think I am insane because I'm frowning all the time All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify Can you help me, occupy my brain? Oh yeah I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but it's too late
  3. The daily Mail?
  4. Room 101 contenders ----President assad and isis
  5. I had a 1902 penny with extra teeth and it bit me on the bum , doh
  6. Oh thanks , you dont tend take much notice after 50 LOL
  7. Well your 1945 shilling is only worth melt value at the moment - but it would not halm having a go at cleaning it - the above two ideas are well and good , remember as the coin is only worth scrap it does not matter much if you ruin it. Congrats on starting up the collecting again - you should find it nostalgic and more fun than years ago , also its more expensive as well , but you can't have everything can you?
  8. Cleaning is very light on that one - would only reduce its value by a little
  9. Looks ok to me , would dispute the grade though
  10. Coins mostly need a quick wipe with just toilet paper soaked with acetone or a cloth , a cloth is better but you also have to wash it because acetone is a smelly solvent that you really don't want to be handleing , ever . This removes all the gunk from coins , you know the stuff that gets transfered from years of being handled in peoples pockets , removes all the grease and dirt and give the underneath a chance to shine through again Soap and water also works as well but just not as fast , several washes might be needed . Remember NEVER rub to hard or the coin might end up with surface scratches
  11. The old favorite acetone may be better , its great on copper and bronze so I see no good reason why brass 3D'S would not be improved
  12. I must admit italian coins have had such a colorful existance over the years I am surprised you dont just specialise in them . Remember napoleons italy and mussolini
  13. Books in italian on english coins are probably non existant , a pity but not surprising as there would be a very small market and so specialist
  14. OMG, SO VERY SORRY PETER
  15. Perhaps MP would get the message if we all sent him a copy of the Who's single "won't get fooled again"
  16. Just to deviate from the subject a little I went to Aston Hall in Aston. Birmingham after the coin fair in birmingham last month and the seal knot were doing a civil war demo (as the roundheads) it really was very good and free as well. I hope next year it is repeated
  17. LOL at scott refering to W and M washers
  18. Coin values in a certain part of the market may be subdued but only because of a lack of collectors , in otherwords it does not matter if your coin is rare as hens teath if no one is interesting in collecting it the item WILL NOT SELL AND ITS PRICE WILL ALWAYS BE LOW. This is why for instance halfpennies are alway sold at a very reasonable price considering their rarity and the ever popular pennies and farthings lead the market. I imagine that the only way to profit from this might be if you had inside knowlege over a book coming out in a particular sector , though most new info in the numismatic world appears online now . And HURRY UP with that farthing variety book colin!
  19. Screams FAKE!
  20. Remember to a penny collector crispness of strike is always important but not so to say a farthing collector whos coin collection is not really upset by infrior strikes like a penny collectors is
  21. I think that on ebay you should get at least £30 for that coin even if it's not a reverse no stop (and it could well have a stop there ) it should get £20 as it's basicly nice grade for that issue. So if you want a reserve start it at £30
  22. I love the high dot after GULIELMUS
  23. Would be nice to do some short films around stately homes ,london bridge or a few north wales castles . Tower of london and buck house might be good as well , as long as its not shot down (I have no knowlage of the legal bits of photographing these places from the air), I surpose there are laws
  24. There is that bloke in the states that............
