  1. I don't think Scott specializes in coins costing over £10 if you know what I mean
  2. my grandads were inscribed on the edge , or just the silver one was he was an ord tommy in the royal marines - not sure if he had to pay extra for that. By the way ist WW medals were superbly struck though it is rare to see one these days that has not been well cleaned. English WWW1 medals are often called Pip squeak and Wilfred , after a popular cartoon in a national newspaper I think
  3. Yep like medals and the like. There were so many medals given out in the first world war that for the first time they were not awarded at ceremonies but posted out in the post at the time - this did not go down well with the ordinary privates (who to be fair put their lives at risk every day , just like the rest). Many even threw them in the bin in disgust.
  4. Doubt very much she is married she sounds like a sexually repressed spinster to me
  5. This whole sorry tale leads me to the conclusion that the whole company is inept and should not exist with it's attitude to customers . BREATHTAKINGLY USELESS
  6. "You must pay final value fees " is wrong as well you can always ignore them and get banned from using ebay again , well in that name anyway
  7. Well yes, the designer of these coins thought more about the quality of the design than the practicalities of making the darn things , best left to other folks in the know they thought, i'm sure of that
  8. Ok I'm sick of the nipple clamps and the stretching in the cellar , Now i give in, "Ok You can go to that bloody coin fair at Birmingham this coming weekend"
  9. Ghosting is quite common on Edward Penny's less in halfpennies and almost none existent in farthings

  15. Just a thought as these coins look like they never had a hole would everyone on here feel comfortable selling a coin as undamaged?
  16. well depends if you have deep pockets i surpose

  18. Mail would not consider worthy of publishing this story without either a big bung ,or mention of isis ukip or illegal boat refugees from africa
  19. The lion while quite a good likeness has a very hairy mane all wrong it looks like it has grown twice as long as it should
  20. young lad 5 experts 0 he he he even an idiot can spot the difference between pewter and silver

  22. Maybe they were deported to Siberia because they would not stoke up the german ovens , if you know what i mean
  23. There are literally millions of forgeries issued into circulation in George the thirds reign , it was considered a very serious offense to pass them on in this reign that saw off napoleon and the french revolution . If they had taken over from the circulating coin it would have had a very serious effect on the economy
  24. I think if I remember rightly George IV was about 35 stone and could not move from his bed for the last few months of his life - prob not pretty sight so I agree the portrait is flattering on the crown. By the was back to the original discussion, nothing apart from maybe a gold Gothic crown comes near the una and the lion
