  1. @zookeeperz do you have any contacts in the States you can send them to in the first place and then ask them to ship them over? It has worked out far cheaper for me to have a friend ship over from the states than to accept the international delivery costs from ebay.
  2. I went to Windows 10 and have not looked back since on 3 pc's of various ages and configurations. It is stable and does what I need. A lot of the gripes are down to user error over anything else.
  3. Noooo work boss....
  4. That's what I get for trying to post without the boss seeing me.....
  5. Yes I agree, I find myself having to look over 5 or 6 threads to see what goodies people have picked up recently
  6. Quick question to @zookeeperz and @Stuntman, why do you post your new coins on this thread rather than the acquisition of the week thread? Is if because, like me on my Nons crap thread, you sometimes have new stuff but you don't deem it worthy of the main thread? I am wondering whether to just post pics of my new coins in the acquisition of the week thread regardless of grade if I want to show them.
  7. You beat me to it by minutes @zookeeperz nice coin for the money, certainly worth what you paid for it.
  8. Does this help?
  9. A couple of newbies since the turn of the year:
  10. I have had a couple off coins them with no issue such as this sixpence: It was graded as CGS 85 and was priced very fairly.
  11. If only!! I have 2 small permissions in place, 2 acres and 7 acres, it's just finding the time to go there for a few hours once in a while.
  12. I have the Garrett 400i as my first detector and it is really easy to use. No major finds yet just hand forged nails and junk so far.
  13. I have a few 1916's but only one that has been graded by a TPG. This was graded by CGS at CGS 78 as a comparison. Yours looks to have a better strike on the reverse compared to mine.
  14. One of mine has similar issues with the E's.
  15. Bucks is at the coin fair every month but he never brings these loose coins with him, only slabbed higher end of the market coins. It is a shame as I know there have been a few I would have bought from him if they had been at the fair.
  16. Look at the fields. If the have the odd mark chances are they are from circulation or maybe bag marks. If the fields look like a wire brush has been across them it stands a damn good chance of having been cleaned. Don't beat yourself up, I'm pretty sure most people will have bought a cleaned coin at some point. Either return it or keep it as a reference point as a cleaned coin.
  17. Look at the obverse and the Queens eye also. Clearly a fake.
  18. To echo what Jaggy said, please keep us up to date Neil. The prices and lay out of the web store at Baldwins have always put me off so I am really pleased to hear you intend to address these in the near future.
  19. No it was not customs, it was the buyer. I wont deal with him again and will not ship to Canada or the US unless it is via a US friend.
  20. Just search for 'English coins' and 'predecimal' and the groups should pop up. I know most won't ship abroad. I had an awful experience with a Canadian on there a year or so back so will not ship over there. One or two will ship abroad such as Martin Platt.
  21. Andrew is on here. Ask him? I'm sure he will help.
  22. One of the bad things about Facebook is the sellers end the auctions at the time on their PC. There can be lag. You can bid and be the last bidder on your screen but not on theirs. This really is a problem if there are a lot of people bidding. Just because you think you are the last bidder isn't always the case.
  23. It depends what you are after and if you sort through the dross and decimal coinage on there. I picked this shilling up for £16 via an auction format. Bargains are very very rare but they do crop up.
