  1. Hi Pete, it arrived today. Very happy with it. Thank you again, it will go into my collection and stay there a a long long time
  2. Thanks Pete. You should have the payment now
  3. Hi Pete, I will take it please. @PWA 1967
  4. They have some cracking coins for sure but the prices asked are crazy for people like me at the lower end of the budget scale, for even the most common dates and coins. I have them as a favourite seller but everything is either out of reach price wise or available in similar grades raw in the UK at a fraction of the price.
  5. I am trying to switch to type collecting but whenever something comes up with toning like that I find it hard to resist
  6. Thanks for posting the pics, links that are not obvious are always a no go in IT
  7. I have had 5 or so in my change so far.
  8. DO NOT click the above links. There is no way to check what they are.
  9. Would love to see a picture Garrett. I am slowly building up a nice collection of threepence's.
  10. Is that number correct VS? PCGS are asking for a 7 or 8 digit code.
  11. I don't have one but have been reading up a little as I have a couple of permissions in places all ready to go. The names that seem to keep popping up are the: Golden Mask, http://thrace-detectors.com/product/277/golden-mask-5.html XP Deus, http://regton.com/xp-deus-metal-detector.html And Garret Ace 400i http://regton.com/garrett-ace-400i-metal-detector.html I don't have any experience with any of them, so please read up yourself. However those are the names that keep popping up when people ask about which detectors to go for.
  12. I only know of 3 or 4 metal detector shops but none in central London sorry. I'm sure there is why I just don't know where. Regton are based in Birmingham and have both on online and walk in store. http://regton.com
  13. I agree with his sentiments but the population that stood up to Hitler and the Nazis is significantly different to the demographic now. I genuinely do worry about the future for my kids.
  14. It's a steep learning curve but if you are not sure I would recommend buying from reputable dealers initially until you get you eye in and can spot the off bargain on ebay etc. You will pay more, the dealers obviously have a living to make, but at least buying from a dealer most will give a fairly accurate description of the coin and will take it back if you are not happy with it in hand.
  15. Silver tends to naturally tone depending on how it was stored. I would expect to see some toning on any silver more than a few years old. 1887 Halfcrowns are really common in decent grades and some of them have lovely toning. I picked this one up last year:
  16. Probably down to the size of the pictures. Either upload them to a web site and link them with the insert other media in the bottom right corner or resize them to be less than 500kb
  17. Slightly out of focus but a newbie from Colin Cooke. It isn't unc but has eye appeal and ticks the type box for now
  18. Just ensure you have a couple of direct daylight lamps pointing at the coin, preferably from overhead, set the white balance to auto on most semi decent cameras, use a dark background for Silver and the pictures tend to come out ok. I need to change my background to one less reflective but generally I am happy with my pictures. The only thing I plan to change is to try the light at different angles on my toned coins and have 2 sets of photos for them to demonstrate how the toning can sing. This is beautifully toned however it looks a little flat here but when the like hits it, wow is stunning.
  19. I would agree with Rob. I found myself in a position of actually wanting to to own examples of various grades to look at at my leisure hence now owning numerous George V Halfcrowns in various grades. The books help, going to the fair definitely helped but having some in hand to look at and compare was extremely useful.
  20. No it sold mate. It was graded VF 25. It sold for £72.59.
  21. Thanks for the confirmation. I have, however, now blown my budget for this month
  22. Would these trays take the Quadrum capsules?
