  1. If the EU isn't prepared to have meaningful negotiations, if your voice wont be heard, then why bother trying? Yes of course we want to cherry pick, its in our national interests to do so just as its in Frances national interest to force the move of the EU parliment to Strasbourg every few weeks. The problem facing the EU now is the UK is in no rush to leave until we get the deal we want and the EU have around a 15% budget hole to fill long term. Southern Europe wont fill it for the EU, it can't its bankrupt. Will Denmark? Belgium? France? Germany? My wife's Grandfather voted out. Why you may ask? His reason went along the lines of "I fought in the War (he served in Europe in 44/45 and then moved to India in 46) to stop the Germans taking over Europe and the politicians have handed it them on a plate." Now people may or may not agree with him but his reason to vote out was very different to other friends who did. To reiterate I believe if the EU had held meaningful negotiations with the UK I do not feel we would have voted to leave. Juncker and co brought this on Europe and us.
  2. If the EU had listened to UK concerns and genuinely offered a compromise and negotiation I do not think we would be where we are now, infact I know a fair few leave voters and they would have all voted remain if it wasn't for the arrogance of Jean-Claude Juncker and co. They voted out as they viewed the EU as a bunch of unelected 'elite' telling the UK to get stuffed. It was nothing to do with imigration for these people but was everything to so with how broken the EU actually is.
  3. I assume you are refering to Morgan Stanley? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/morgan-stanley-brexit-eu-referendum-jobs-dublin-frankfurt-a7100911.html They have said there are no immediate plans for change.
  4. I would like one also please
  5. Welcome! You picked a great place to discuss your hobby
  6. I believe you can go through an agent , I am not sure if @mhcoins offers this service?
  7. To be fair to LCA/CGS I spoke to Semra today about the coins I sent in nearly 4 weeks ago as I had recieved no update bar 'we have them' and a UIN that I couldnt asign to my collection and she was helpful. She sorted the UIN issue there and then and told me to expect things to move forward next week now that the June auction was done with.
  8. I have looked at a lot of their coins for the last few months but as VS states they are not cheap at all! I would love to add a few of them to my collection but their prices are over the top in most cases.
  9. I clearly sent my coins in at a bad time as its now 3 weeks on and still no invoice/ invoice number, still no coin progression, still no updates. I am reluctant to chase them given whats going on with the changes to the pricing model. I know others are now into week 7/8 of waiting for coins to come back so they still have 34 ish days left to turn them around. At least these people have an invoice number and can see coin progression. I am hoping that now the June LCA is out of the way they will get the CGS side moving. I honestly think, still being relatively new to this, that if they offered a good quality of customer service and a reasonable turn around of day 30 days they would see far more people using them. Part of the reason they get so many calls saying "where are my coins?" is because their communication and customer service doesn't fill you with confidence. Once my current batch are returned I won't be sending anymore until we know where CGS are going with their pricing model and, more importantly to me, their customer service.
  10. Would that be the case though given the £499 basically is you paying for a number of slabs upfront? If they did change the rules again would they not just say those that paid had the slabs in the bank as it were? Or have I totally misunderstood how this fee will work? I do not see what they hope to gain bar pushing the customer service bit out to agents which they seem to few as a hassle.
  11. Thanks @Nordle11 I, suprisingly, work in IT but I am not a techie
  12. So I am going to 'try' and learn Python so I can have my own little app to track my collection. Although I can buy a programme, doing it myself has given me the nudge to learn to code for the first time since the ZX Specturm
  13. Without checking my notes I am pretty sure bid on lots 134, 140 and 148, the 02, 05 (I already have an 06) and 10 but only won the 02 and 05. @VickySilver what lot numbers did they have you down for on the email about your winning lots?
  14. Clearly I had a bad day when I posted this.... I wont the 02 and 05 not the 06 Bith just arrived, both look better in hand although there is a touch of verd on the 02 Its not clear on the pictures that it is verd but in hand it is clear to see. It looks like it will just flick off when I get home though
  15. I had an email earlier saying they were shipping them today for delivery tomorrow
  16. Is MDF safe to use? I though the glues used to bind it could potentially affect the coins. Is there anyone with more experience able to confirm this?
  17. I guess the first thing to ask is what type of wood are they made from?
  18. I won the 1902 and the 1906. The 06 is a weak strike but looked OK for the money. The 02 I am hoping is better in hand.
  19. A new Farthing for my collection this week
  20. Well I won two lots so that's a couple of nice additions.
  21. The three I bid on are marked as sold at the price I dropped on them but no email confirmation a yet.
  22. Welcome Bob. Check out the grading book from rotographic as a good starting point for later milled predecimal. It's a great starter book.
  23. Chris is usualy at the coin fair and is a decent bloke to deal with. The coins I have had off him I have been happy with.
  24. The Quadrums are great in the Lighthouse S6 case, andyjack also sells these:
