  1. If I include the postage the Farthing was £2 ish off the top of my head. I think using a different way to light your coin (day light LED lamp) for the photo may throw up more detail
  2. Glad to know I have not over paid on the penny with £1.99! The farthing was 99p plus postage. Again, more about starting to get a few in hand to compare grades etc until my funds allow some higher grade purchases
  3. Yes it is a bit OTT. The sellers photos were awful (out of focus, far away etc) when I bought it so it was a punt based on the date and the toning the seemed to be there. If I decide to flip it I have already had a few people who are normally decimal collectors/silver stackers take an interest on Facebook and offer me more than I paid. For now it will just stay in my collection
  4. So I have started to add some low cost Bronze coins to my collection, by low cost I mean sub £5. Here are two of my newbies, both of these were sub £2. I am sure they would not qualify as acquisition of the week so forgive me for posting them here and not there.
  5. It's not even close to being a decent copy.... god knows who is bidding on it!
  6. This is at £46 plus shipping with a day to go! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-1905-Half-Crown-Coin-/161995770377?hash=item25b7b34a09:g:j0kAAOSwDuJW2Dcm
  7. I agree, but are there not number of elements that specifically apply to members of the European Union? Article 16? I am really interested to learn more about how our relationship with the EU will impact the humans rights act that stops us deporting people purely becuase they were lucky enough to breed before they were caught and convicted. The right to have a family should not out weigh the right of the rest of us to not live in fear of some nutter. If leaving the EU would have no impact on the Human rights rulings from Europe that our courts have to follow then I would like to know more please
  8. I am still undecided but at the moment I am leaning towards out. I would much prefer us to have control of our own laws, our own borders and be able to implement a points style system for economic migrants. I am not saying stop migration at all, just have better control over who we want in and who we want out. Also the fact we cannot deal with certain people due to the the Human Rights act, a direct result of our relationship with Europe, really does annoy me. I plan to read up some more before I decide either way but I am finding the scare mongering from the 'In' campaign is pushing me the other way.
  9. Well it did not meet the reserve with an end price of £2751.11 so someone had a lucky escape. They have, however, relisted it: item number 121913651673.
  10. Thanks Mynki I understand the principal but is it not though, for all intents and purposes, still paper gold? You dont physically have it in hand do you or can you buy off them and have it shipped to you for you to decide where and how you store it?
  11. I usually go each month but I am 50/50 this time around due to a severe lack of funds
  12. Surely Physical Bullion would be better? Have not a fair few of these paper gold dealers gone bump in the States over the last couple of years? Also in the event of the Zombie apocalypse I would like to be able to get to any bullion I had relatively easily so I can pay for me food, weapons etc with a precious metal rather than some 'other' form of payment
  13. Well, for all the good it will do I just reported it as a fraudulent listing.
  14. For comparison here is mine:
  15. That is a nice example. Much better than mine ☺
  16. Oh for sure Paul, I should have said I agree with ozjohn As we discussed around that 1925 Halfcrown NGC grading seems to be off at times!
  17. To be fair to the seller I just had an upgrade off him graded as NGC MS63 for an extremely good price:
  18. I have only been going since July last year and its been £2 each time. Out of curiosity what did it used to be then? I go even when I have no funds as its good to see some familiar faces and to see so many coins.
  19. I hope to be there but due to it being on the 14th I may struggle this month!
  20. Cheers Pete, Paul
  21. Sigh posted in wring thread
  22. Very nice Jamcol is often at the Midland coin fair but only tends to bring slabbed stuff with him.
  23. Thanks it is slowly getting there. I need to upgrade a few and I want some other examples in there but I am happy with my collection so far.
  24. I tend to use the Quadrum capsules for storage as they are relatively cheap, allow access to the coin for photos, and are a bit more sturdy that a cardboard flip. They also provide a few nice storage options for these that fit nicely into secure storage. I would love a traditional coin cabinet but my budget doesnt allow me to stretch that far just yet.
  25. There is some discussion around this type of thing here as well http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=251604&whichpage=1
