  1. At first i didnt want to post and let anyone know my opinion on an open forum...... which is all it is. However you did ask the question and keen to see what others may think I would put on as a BIN or offer for a month first and just try it as a more specialised penny. A mate of mine put a decent 1911 gouby x on before christmas, good photos and description. It was on for ten days and finished on a sunday night. I felt bad him posting it me as i bought it for £3 You dont want anything daft like that to happen.
  2. Dont thank me mate as you may get more and will let others decide Just giving you my opinion ,however i do try and keep intouch with prices as with some other low grade ones if i know there are more being found i know its time to get rid of mine
  3. In that condition anything over £130 ish in your pocket and you have done well.....IMO More are turning up like most varieties and this just brings the price down. You may be able to ask more to someone who really wants one.....just need to find them and if at auction there are fees One is for sale on ebay that was purchased at LCA in Sept/Dec but been on a few months. Dave craddock sold a couple last year for £100 each (maybe cheap) and although i did not see them or the pictures i would not of thought they were lesser grade. Maybe i am way off as they were selling for £250 ish when i bought mine a couple of years ago although it is better and as i have mentioned more have turned up since then. Terry found a good one recently and they will always command a hefty premium as if its scarce will be even harder to find in a good grade. I was going to say £100 but thought i would make you feel better Good luck.. Pete.
  4. What i mean Zoo is its in the book as 1893/2 not just the coin pictured all of them with the downward bit below , not sure if they are all really a 2. If the coin has more lustre or viewed through a glass you can see more clearly.
  5. Lots can look similar Zoo such as Gouby Ac has made me doubt as weather it really is a 2.
  6. Yes it looks good to me but way overpriced again
  7. No your not seeing things ,what a fantastic find and HAT OFF. Whats the Reverse like ?.
  8. Well lets hope he does read the forum and makes a point of looking at it more often as not doing himself any favours.
  9. Hat off thats a really good one Richard I assume with it just having an estimate of £80 they had just listed it as a 1861 ?
  10. Hat off Will maybe he listened to you or reads the forum. Put some new pictures up and changed the grade on the description as Sword said due to a picture of the ticket
  11. Its nothing to do with the pictures or the listing really I just dont like people selling coins for a grand in an auction and then telling lies to not sell it. I also dont like people who arrange to meet you and sell you something for cash and tell lies again. I also dont like people selling Fakes that have been in there collection forty years but were only made twelve months before. I also dont like someone who sells at shows and knows the values trying to catch someone out by asking £500 more for a coin of not much value. Basiclly i just dont like the seller and people who tell lies
  12. Got you now Sword.....Sorry i am a bit thick
  13. The bar only opens at 5.00 sorry ,but maybe you can call in later and explain it all to us
  14. Believe me he knows what he is doing and has / had dozens of cgs coins although the pictures yes i forgot and he may not be able to access them. The grade though he states in the listing as F although it is not that on the holder it is only VG ,so i am not sure what you mean by quite hard to claim. All of it doesnt matter anyway just one of his normal daft listings and nobody (hopefully)is going to pay that for it
  15. As i doubt the seller will reply i have had a quick look and the cgs picture is much clearer ....... the coin is definately an open 3. I dont know why he didnt use there picture as much better and the same coin graded 10. Now all he has to do is knock £500 off and alter the grade from F to VG
  16. You can put the blame on Terry for that Stuart ,although if it had been the correct thread there would of been twice as many posts
  17. No i only meant 1915 Zoo ,dont start me off looking at them all
  18. Yes probably Rob its more the picture rather than having one in hand.Have you had any or seen any with the tooth complete or do you not bother checking them.
  19. Yes i dont believe its broken for a test that is why you find them without the broken tooth and think from memory davidrj posted one on another thread.Although i dont think there are many without part of the tooth missing and i have never been able to convince myself without the tooth indicator.
  20. The one zoo has is 1916 Terry,
  21. The coin is genuine and ok ,however the seller isnt Numerous times he has listed items with false descriptions.including fakes.I am first to defend anyone but after how he was with Dave and blatant lies he told me have know time for him.Not that he will care and he does know what he is doing but would not like someone to be had over by him To ask £600 at an auction starting price for a coin probably worth less than £100 is just daft.
  22. I dont think the top one is Ian.
  23. Yes I would think thats definately right Jerry. The same die starting late1915 (you dont see as many) and getting worse right upto the die crack on 1916.All the 1916 recessed ear have a large part of the tooth missing that i have seen and a progression of the 1915.Also a lot of the 1916 are seen in high grade which may be down to being the first struck for the year and more were put away or kept .Terrys pictures show this well and dont feel it would of been deliberate ,just it broke and they continued to use the recessed ear untill going back to the normal OBV after the die crack.I am only guessing and suppose the only way is to be sure there was only one OBV die with the recessed ear. Pete.
