  1. I read this thread with interest as found it hard to find a good one 1915 Recessed ear and then like most things two turned up at once. Most of the 1915 tend to be weakly struck which one was although that had better lustre. The one i sent to CGS for Freyas collection has part of the tooth missing(couple of tiny spots but not verd) and as i mentioned in a previous thread find it much easier to tell and be sure. Pete.
  2. I dont know why you quoted me Mike Its not just the expensive ones ,plenty collectors prefer to spend there money on other things and we all buy the common coins at sometime. The dealers who hate them are probably the same people who moan they are not selling anything ,carrying just the expensive ones round hoping to sell one. Pete.
  3. No leave the silly questions up....I do all the time
  4. Yes it was more the prices on a list which surprised me as i did not have a clue , then seeing others being sold. If mine are better than the example i used i might have to charge even more One dealer has them at £69.95 which seem more like ask what they want. They were in sets 1947 ,48,54,56,57,58 & 59 that i know had been put away and if they were Rang i would not of bought them or even dreamt of putting one on here, the pennies and Bronze were BU in other years and think the florins are ok also. As a forum member knows they came with quite a large nice penny collection a few months ago . as asked him if there was anything i should look for in the sets as i didnt have a clue.......although niether did he All good fun and i have learned someting else. Pete.

  6. Yes maybe Jamie and perhaps put the handbrake on , although i can understand you want to buy some rather than look at pictures. Can i ask what you bought please or maybe some pictures ? There are also shows that allow you to look at all types of coins.I dont have a clue were you live but one at Birmingham(although that was today)and Wakefield every month. Pete.
  7. I dont know anything about the coin but fantastic pictures....HAT OFF
  8. PM sent Peck...... i have got a 1956 ,57,58 & 59 and just need your address , just pay me what they are worth to you. I did send the message yesterday but you dont appear to have read it. If your not happy with them just throw them in the bin Pete.
  9. Yes Michael although its a pity its not got a HOLE as that one is scarcer
  10. Its to late now . I have been up all night breaking them all out
  11. Thats ok Peck. I think it was the initial shock and am now able to condole myself with the happy memories
  12. Looking again could this not just be a flaw in the flan as a scratch would show over the top of the letters. Or maybe it does and i just cant see it . Can someone tell me what it is please as its bugging me

Interesting reading the description as John also seems to think they are worth £25. Pete.
  15. Yes its such a shame that they have added another letter on the ticket and all my others are looking so much out of place
  16. Something that appears to be underneath is actually at the top of the die ?. If that makes sense
  17. Yes.Such a shame and sure they will miss your valued custom
  18. Please dont kick me why i am down Peck
  19. Terrible and a very sad day
  20. Quite clever that one Rob....even i got it
  21. Yes Jerry i agree and can remember someone blowing the pictures up when it was for sale and was just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts.Regardless of what die the obverse is i would never spend good money on one as would always be thinking is it or isnt it ....or have i just spent a few quid on a blocked die or Rang. Happy to have a gap for that one
  22. This is the biggest problem imo they are cleaning them not conserving then.... putting in plastic and think its ok
  23. I think from memory a forum member had a similar experience with an 1861 or 62 proof penny ,cant remember exactly what year. Although that was just on the Atlas site i think , not an auction and was able to return it .....there is a thread about it on here. The coins are no doubt not what they look like (either doctored pictures or conserved ) in hand but if you can return anything regardless of the seller atleast the choice is down to yourself. As far as buying one in auction for a few quid without looking at it or someone else on our behalf we only have ourselves to blame.
  24. Does that mean the one with OBV 12 sold at LCA for £1500 was definately not one ? I only ask as someone must of thought it looked right
  25. Quality
