Sorry i dont have a clue about them....when the item was first listed the picture was of a GATE

They were all homemade ,one guy sold over 300. People were buying them from him and relisting them and the fact you bought twenty i would think are the same ones.

Well i was sure it would of been proof from the picture but atleast you got your answer Are they plated or silver ?.

You can only keep looking Kev cgs have graded four in there opinion satin finish so maybe one day you will get lucky

In answer to your question i dont have one or heard of one. I have just checked a coin news article on Bronze penny flaws and its not mentioned in that either.

Before you start looking for any the 1874 i think was a typo for 1875 of which there are a couple of types. Happy hunting

Yes thanks Mike the sea line sometimes i cant tell especially if the coin is worn and even then sometimes i am unsure. The 1874 can be tricky to tell the differences between them all atleast i struggle ,i need to try and spend some more time trying to get my head round them. Talking of daft dots the ebay coin also had one at the side of the ship

If its raised and wont come off its a bit of grit or similar on the die so Ideally you would need to find another one to make it of any interest IMO. As far as sending it to someone they are just going to tell you what you already know and some of the people on here will no doubt give there opinion Another option is something that has been mentioned on here a rust spot on the die that starts off minute and can become bigger. Whatever it is you really need to find another one atleast so maybe just keep hold of it and keep looking. The other thing is the 1870 & 1875 the dot is a lot bigger and cant be mistaken for anything else.

The cleaning may have just caused damage as the marks are that small and i am not convinced as a couple of dots close together is a bit random. The Flaw between the O & N is documented in Freeman and therefore collectable and quite a few of them rather than just one known that would be considered more an error.. You mention the coin being a high grade and the one flaw is scarce above VF maybe put up a picture of the full coin. Well spotted though regardless of what it is Pete.

Sorry but am i missing something here The coin is from a 1937 proof set (or is it ) i could buy a full set for that and if i took my time would find a nice one as plenty available. Even if i put the crown in plastic i would still be happy with a lot less than £475. So based on the pricing £475 do you think that is ok for a normal one ?. To defend the seller is fine and always two sides to every story....... i am the first to defend anyone and going to leave this thread now Perhaps he was to busy.........

The question is why knock over £2K off and if he acknowledges it is now not one why is he still listing it as such on a different platform. In answer to your question yes anyone who trys to sell a coin for £2K plus knowing that its worth £100 is totally out of order.

He sold the coin originally at a price listed at £2,850.00. Now a month later he is happy to sell it for £475.......Still listed as VIP. Surely you would get a second opinion and if he was sure why not put in a LCGS holder rather than sell it for £2K less ,would only cost £30/40 or so. Makes me think he did not have a clue what it was or trying to have someone over either way he is best leaving them alone and should IMO of made a big apology to the buyer. Maybe he did and the biggest lesson learned is leave them well alone if not in a designated slab or you have the knowledge to be sure seeing the coin in hand. Nothing to do with me or any of my business just wouldnt like anyone else to pay way over trusting a dealer.

What this does show looking earlier is how many decimal collectors there is. Looking at compleated listings of the one mentioned they are selling hundreds
