  1. Thanks Mick......I was beginning to think it didnt happen as nobody had seen one
  2. Has anyone ever seen a collection or even one coin that has been damaged or toned unaturally by the cabinet please ?
  3. Thanks Paul ,as i said i have not got a clue but you collecting silver will know.I wonder if thats what it does with all coins.
  4. Thanks Mike for the above reply. I had read that they were not advisable before although not any reason as to why or evidence to back it up.. Has anyone ever noticed or seen this chemical reaction ,does it change the colour in a specific way ?.
  5. Not having a clue , why would Walnut and any other wood than Mahogany be so bad please ? Or reading the thread again Rosewood as Peter mentions. I am really interested , how can a piece of wood damage a coin ,i have never seen a coin described as having wood damage and surely there is a lot worse things to keep them in .
  6. 100 % Spot on Mike
  7. We are about ten miles away and can see straight to winter hill from the lounge window (upstairs flat). It was throwing it down for most of last night and had some heavy spells today. Sure it will of done some good as even our lawns are now looking green I should of also mentioned my mum went to the Barn in rivington at lunchtime (i think that is what its called) and was throwing it down at 12.00.
  8. Failure is a word for people who dont have a go regardless of what it may be and IMO success in sport would not be acheivable without competition. We are all different and in sport if everyone was as good as the stars they would all be average. People may often lose and comeback stronger and better in sport. My comments were not based on you Dave or the post you made ,just more that we live in a country were alot of people will be negative of others . If loosing in sport is failure thats a word you may use but i choose not to Thirty one teams who got to the group stages have failed in this world cup from your comments..................They all should of in there opinion done better but there will be only ever one winner. Maybe we should concentrate on the good bits rather than the negatives which are easy to find. Yes your opinion is as valuable as anyone elses but please dont apply for the England managers job should it ever become available. Pete.
  9. People and teams dont fail in sport they take part and sometimes lose. Some teams and individuals may be better however they are the small majority.Ask any boxer a good mate of mine has just retired after fifty two professional fights and didnt win one, but put good wages on the table that allowed him to look after his family. Some people give everything they have ,yes they may lose but still be given a hat off . To say if we had met other teams we would of gone out earlier IMO just seems unfair and also not relevant. Maybe Muhammad Ali , Sugar ray leonard , Sugar ray robinson and Mike Tyson were not very good as they lost and you consider that to be failure. As i mentioned in an earlier post if we had won 10-0 in the final some people would of still not been happy and said it should of been 11. All good fun and enjoyable watching
  10. The 1922 you describe as " strange trident detached from the teeth "...........Do you have a picture please Larry The F192A is RARE
  11. The animals that you see on coins Larry well maybe if they have lustre it might be a reflection....... looking at your avatar ?.
  12. Good tournament for England with some young lads who surprised a lot of people and they should keep there head up and were not disgraced. We got to extra time in the semi final of the world cup and not many before it started would of thought that would of happened. .Sport to some people who participate is a way of suceeding in life, they may not be talented in other ways. Hat off to every one of them
  13. Its me being positive Michael and mean when we play France on Sunday
  14. Another step closer tonight and the furthest they have gone in my lifetime. 1-0.......Come on England and lets get in the final
  15. Ian....... I have confused myself here yet again The Italic 5 is that known as the Large one then and the curl small , i am aware of the differences but just want to confirm please ? Also that the 1853 PT is about one in fortyish that is similar to Larrys findings ? Pete.
  16. Well one out of forty eight shows how much scarcer they are Plenty varieties on the Coppers to look for. Pete.
  17. Yes Larry its a common year and not hard to find one of each ,you will notice the small one described as italic and the larger one having a curl at the top. The scarcest is the PT ....Did you find anymore
  18. Today is the DAY. Come on England when we win today we are in the final ,we will beat Croatia / Russia. 2-0 today

  21. Thank you. There is also a 1853 with the large 5 which is a DOT between the I & A in GRATIA ,you may not be bothered but a variety that you also may have in such a large group.
  22. Why you have such a large group Larry can i ask you out of the eighty you have how many are PT please ? Sorry if its not something you know off the top of your head but the PT is much scarcer and would guess at three out of eighty
