  1. You've come on in leaps and bounds in both your grading and purchasing decisions Mick imo, great to see
  2. I'd be happy to help administrate and//or moderate, guess that's up to @Chris Perkins
  3. Bit of a wipe on the shilling and sixpence though:
  4. Fairly / totally(?) wipe-free
  5. Hence the discussion, why such a diversity? Such a common coin too! Happy with GEF for mine, but when coins clearly inferior grade-wise have a bigger or the same number then I question what is going on
  6. UNC with wear strikes me as an oxymoron, if the cap fits, wear it, you know who you are!
  7. Seems to be at least a whole grade of difference for me, would certainly be disappointed to receive this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1746-AUNC-George-II-Silver-Lima-Halfcrown-CGS-70-MS60-MS61-/332292189986?hash=item4d5e286f22:g:TbsAAOSwDiBZMyFt
  8. I often support LCGS when they grade a coin, for their strictness and consistency. However this example seems hard to explain, consistency-wise (well on both counts really): My CGS 70 (aUNC) Another CGS 70 for sale on eBay:
  9. Sorry I should have added that in my OP. The edge listing is crucial as you say. Mine is “PAYABLE IN LANCASTER LONDON OR BRISTOL”. so a standard 44 I believe
  10. Low grade and I do not think I have posted this here before (same coin, different backgrounds). Have I attributed this correctly (D&H Lancashire 44) - one for @Rob perhaps?. If so it is rated RR by D&H
  11. Getting more and more into these, a recent addition:
  12. Happy birthday John!
  13. Yes, I think it's in Chris' @Chris Perkins book 'Roman Silver Coins' as Silver Denarius 89BC Rape of Sabine Women, L. Titurius Sabinus, CRS204 Group 6 Class 1a (two or more human characters/trophies), thanks Chris
  14. I am no expert but have spent many hours trying to get results that I am happy with. For me, capturing the toning and eye appeal as it is in hand, is the primary objective. Here is an example of a 1918 HC I am happy with, photos-wise, a different coin to yours of course. It has the same 'life' and 'depth' as when I view it in the raw:
  15. I will display the full matched set at some point, for now these are the next few:
  16. Yes, that would put me off too, becomes a lottery and/or leap of faith. What copper lot did you win?
  17. One I acquired a few months back, just wanted to point out the PENNEY error!
  18. Plenty of high grade copper tokens went at the Baldwins of St James's auction today, mainly ex Baldwins vault, anyone nab some? Prices were strong in the main for top grades with lustre.
  19. Pressing on with more coins in this set, which I must say seem to be near FDC
  20. Well done Stu!
  21. Finding it very hard to represent what it looks like in hand, and of course this changes massively with lighting and angles in any case! 1937 crown attempt
  22. I agree, and no discernible Mint wipe! Here's mine
  23. Paulus

    1912 penny

Hi Anthony, would love to see pics of that one please?
