  1. I now use a totally free web hosting option (Wordpress) to store my coin pics (see link below) ... 3 gb upload limit All I need to do to post pics in here is to right-click on the image in Wordpress, select Copy Image, then Ctrl+V into here
  2. It was when the value of the metal content was equivalent to the FV of the coin, but I don't believe that was the case come 1935? Much more work involved in changing the size of the coin (I would have thought!) Finding this a little surprising I must say!
  3. Hense my surprise ... that would explain it, although I am surprised they varied the diameter instead of the weight!!!
  4. I am surprised they are exactly the same weight?
  5. Simon Willis often has some great coins for sale, but in all honesty the TPG grading of this one seems like a joke! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Victoria-Old-Head-Coinage-1900-Silver-Crown-S3937-PCGS-MS64-Choice-UNC-/172787889545?hash=item283af5f589:g:VVkAAOSwXY5ZSWXr
  6. Fabulous coin Rob! Ignoring the rarity of the mm over-strikes, just a gorgeous coin, about time I concentrated on Tudor silver again
  7. I now have examples of all 5 of the Cinque Ports halfpenny Conder tokens, this is Hastings, the only one of the 5 in Sussex
  8. There is no way I would grade that 1904 HC as Fine from those pics, I think all the lettering should be visible for Fine? And it should be irrelevant how rare the coin is. Happy to be contradicted ...
  9. Yes, I don't think the 1905 you bought is fully fine either, but I don't think you did all that bad for the lot as a whole, it depends what grade you want as 'keepers'
  10. My latest Cinque Port (pronounced Sink Port apparently) Conder token, just Hastings needed to complete the main 5, arriving later this week but not as high a grade ... Question for other Conder token collectors on here - I use the following sellers to source my tokens, any others I should be looking at? ABC coins and tokens (David Stuart) Baldwins (of St James) John Newman (johnnyqc on eBay) Druids Revenge (eBay Seller)
  11. From the pics, GEF for me, a trace too much wear, allbeit slight, for AUNC imo - very clean in terms of rims and bag issues in the fields
  12. My Hull token (it's D&H 21 I believe, as opposed to your D&H 20) - no flaw on the H
  13. A punt on this 1841 halfpenny, I'm grading GEF from the seller's pics, opinions welcome
  14. Sorry but to say with the QC at the RM, varieties at that level are going to be almost infinite - tried pre-decimal coins?
  15. I have this matt proof half crown which I will be selling at some point, notice the (relatively minor) Mint wipe
  16. I believe so yes - I hope the coin looks a lot nicer in hand than those photos suggest!
  17. The secondary market (eBay etc) is the way to go for most modern RM proof coins and sets (if you like that sort of thing!) Very few fetch a premium on what the RM originally charged, most go for much less
  18. I love all this and know about Mary, I also advise Rob's caution when it comes to attributing an item!
  19. What is the moneyer and mint?
