  1. Hmmmm, can you point this internet rule out for me? If he is in business as a coin dealer then the card will be splashed all over the internet, i'm making it more easily found. When in business you are obviously needing to be found on the internet, so there's no wrong doing here Pete
  2. Brilliant, have you ever thought about a career in stand up comedy? Funnily enough he bought a coin off me this year under his wife' eBay name, brilliant, unfortunately the name and address stick out like a sore thumb
  3. This made me smile, he forgot to add cleaner extrodinare amongst his other names relative to eBay. Before anyone adds anything about phone numbers etc, this is freely available on the internet (Edited for Pete)
  4. Nice little loss made there, it will be back sometime or other, it was his wife' eBay name that won it.....
  5. if you quote any varieties on the submission forms then it would be checked, CGS actively look for varities and sometimes even create their own
  6. CGS 82 would equal MS64-65 so NGC weren't far short of the mark, an interesting comparison but in that grade on the NGC slab i wouldn't have spent anymore money having it re-graded as it's now a more expensive coin, but i know how you feel about CGS slabs Pete, hence the re-grade i assume
  7. When I joined it was about 2 weeks before the Munich fair and hasn't received my vocher, I explained this to the PCGS lady, they emailed about a week later asking if I had received it, it came by post, I scanned and emailed it and wasn't charged for the gradings. I've read recently that they are now sending vouchers out digitally now.....
  8. That was a few mins more than i watched.......
  9. Here's one i experimented on, the before and after
  10. Technically, cleaning/dipping is a NO NO. Silver dipping is a common occurrence but if left in the solution to long it can strip the lustre of the coin and make it look like a brick, very dull and flat, i assume it's effectively burnt the coin, doing it properly can enhance a coin dramatically though, longer than 10 seconds and you can kiss goodbye to whatever you paid........
  11. Probably just poor quality lighting Leo
  12. Seems to be a commemorative medal celebrating 25 years
  13. Judging by the OBV side (heads side) it looks South African or Canadian
  14. Not sure if this is going to be visible as it's a pdf but it was the list of investment coins that Stanley Gibbons produced Stanley Gibbons EnglishCoin200 Index DEC2014.pdf
  15. I would hope so, it was the other reason i bought it......When it arrives i'll add my own pictures

An image is useful, but no more than 500kb per post.
  17. PCGS accept submissions by mail as well as in person but they don't like using the normal delivery system because of insurance purposes, for instance if you send with Royal Mail you are not covered bt their T&Cs as coins are in fact prohibited to be mailed, i use Fedex, you can order a Fedex pickup from their website unless you have an office near you. You can drop the coins off at the fair i listed above but ONLY if you are a PCGS member, no membership equals no submission unless Alan @mhcoins can help out there should you not wish to become a member, but i'm not sure if he wishes to become overrun with people asking him to submit their coins.... All coins are taken and graded in Paris, they won't be graded in the USA
  18. Never used NGC personally, BRG is of the opinion that they are better, i'm the other way around, so it's just a matter of choice. I used PCGS because they grade in Paris, there's an NGC office here in Munich but they only take your submissions and deal with all the paperwork regarding re-entry in the EU as they only grade in the USA, so everything is sent there and it has a 6 week turnaround. Paris is just around the corner and when their grading week is on then it takes only a 10 day turnaround
  19. Spotted this one about a year ago and never went near it
  20. I spotted it a couple of days back and thought i'd make an offer on it, the seller tried to raise it by 4 euros which i found strange, so i sent him an email saying i was no longer interested, he got back to me this morning saying he'll accept my original offer I noticed the eBay seller Jon Blyth sold one last night in MS65 for £125,33 so it was a bargain in comparison, although the most expensive i've seen was sold by Heritage for $328
  21. Considering Spink quotes these as "forgeries exist" and with a book price starting at £5500 i wouldn't hold my breath but if it was found to be a forgery then it should be able to be returned to the auction house, their grading is also terrible VZ-ST which is EF to UNC. I've sent them an email regarding it's authenticity and if they are absolutely sure it's genuine and also mentioned that if i win it i'd be sending it off for verification (just to move them into gear, it doesn't interest me) i'll get back to you if they send me a reply
  22. just purchased, a common coin, but nice
  23. I need a holiday.................4 weeks away in a camper van touring Scotland...........Bliss..............
