  1. One of my pet hates are so called "premium eBay seller" who try to rip people off. This one is koscoins claiming that his 1687/6 James II shilling is actually with M over G in MAG. The reverse error is a pretty noticeable error as i've had one of these a few years back, the funny thing is, when he bought it from Londoncoins there was no mention of the REV legend error although they have sold a couple and know of the error. So just another eBay seller trying to make a few more bucks instead of just selling the coin as he bought it.......The next post is the actual coin that's for sale on eBay and the Londoncoins sale coin......
  2. VF isn't so pricey, it's finding a VF, most are around GF it's when it goes above that.......The linked coin sold for £700 in 2013 graded as GVF http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/img.php?a=143&l=1517&f=o&s=l
  3. The florin is Proof Stuntman.....
  4. Not much of the Scottish silver here, the thread name might be biased on ENGLISH silver though
  5. Try photobucket Alan Although, not all 1911 Florins are toned, but yours is nice
  6. These are the people who graded for CGS, now known as LCGS, strange innit Its probably 1 of the reasons they took 3 months to grade a coin
  7. Results are up
  8. Agreed again, toning is Part of the ageing process of these sets, if you look for The 1911 silver proof sets you'll see that a majority of these Sets have a heavy Blue tone, obviously the die of the velvet is reacting to The silver. I'd be more worried if they didn't have some form of tone to them......

    Slabbed panda

A friend of mine buys the Britannias and recently paid £170 for an PF70 cameo, so there is a market out there for such things...........And yes i have pleaded with him about buying these types, but again, it's his money to spend how he wishes, same as everyone else, each to their own
  10. CGS had a table of their grades and their equivalents on the LCs website, i think it's since been taken down, but if you hit the link below you"ll see the American grades and the British equivalent along with the others from other various European countries http://www.pcgseurope.com/grading/comparison?l=en

Chinese Panda coins are quite popular, Gold or Silver, maybe not in the UK, but certainly around other parts of the world
  12. It was graded at AU58 or British EF. MS grades start at 60 up to 70
  13. Really?
  14. No coin would ever be graded more than 99
  15. Do we care? CGS is no more, so their league table is obsolete along with their company
  16. You have more chance meeting the Pope than getting anything from these lot these days. If you are a member of the Illuminati you might get through (Eventually)
  17. Perhaps now that CGS has nothing to grade, the descriptions in their auctions might get better as they'll have more time on their hands....... Still won't bid with them UNLESS it's something i really want, they need to move into the 21st centuary
  18. PCGS have the better advantage being in Europe, I was quoted a 6 week turnaround for NGC because they send to America for grading. I sent 2 on Tuesday into Paris, they have registered them in the website already, so will see how long they take....
