  1. Whats shocking is a dealer selling A/UNC 1933 pennies for £135. Not altered dates just..... RT....... although he has got a 1933 Penny thats UNC for the same price Anyway perhaps one of those dealers who doesnt like selling anything and described to me recently as more like mobile museums. For him to say he got it from a reputable source is just a get out or alternatively he has not got a clue like me
  2. If you do send it to the mint as they wont tell you from a picture be prepared for about a six / eight month reply. They will notify you straight away of them receiving it but only telling you to be prepared to wait. I was told by them a week or so ago they get dozens of decimal coins sent to them but they were kind enough to transfer me to a couple of people so i was able to mail to the right person. Only mention it as not just a couple of week turnaround
  3. So its a normal one of which the sets you can get a decent one for £80 or the single coin for £20. Dont really need to wait for any answers on here , better to wrap it up and post it back tomorrow. Better to find out now than when you came to sell it Although a couple have sold for considerably more on the LCA site. Listed as frosted 1953 proof. You really need to be able to tell the difference and you have one to compare in hand.
  4. Hi and welcome . I noticed this on another forum, did the top one you buy as a VIP proof ?. If it is a normal one (i dont have a clue) then surely no dealer would of sold that for £550. Can someone on here confirm from the photograph if it is just a normal proof please. My worry would be why would a dealer want £600 of decimal stuff
  5. Well Leo you have definately got the pictures right ....Hat Off
  6. Have you got one of the reverse or will it take a while ?.
  7. Hat off Leo ...pictures speak more than a thousand words The third pictures look spot on and a nice Copper penny.
  8. All the best and happy birthday Chingford. Getting old now John
  9. If you buy them all to resell Declan why not just not bother with hammered and stick to what you know best.
  10. Look at completed listings 1834 farthing one sold this morning.
  11. Same seller two accounts as mentioned before
  12. The same seller has now started listing 1834 Farthings i was told about a while ago for anyone who may be interested in them
  13. Been talking to a couple of people who are going to his funeral on Tuesday. Must of been a well liked guy.
  14. I know you mentioned it last week Jon ......unusual but what is it ?.
  15. You might find this of interest Mick and sorry i cant put the link up .....you may of already read it Milled edges and counterfeit florins. I know it says florins but also half crowns ,just type it in google. Its from the BNJ 1968 and may be of some interest as about James Steele.
  16. Well she can always get a job haunting houses at Blackpool
  17. Can we have a look at a picture please Mick ?.
  18. Yep your right Scott but a high bid can be shilled up and if a variety spotted people will bid really high and retract the bid to find out what its at
  19. Slightly off track but leaving high bids at anytime upto the last day is perhaps not the best idea. It is too easy to find out exactly what the bid you made is by either the seller or someone else interested. Much easier to get one cheap looking at new listings not attributed and BIN
  20. Dont know if any use but the catalogue for sale on Galata.
  21. After another nine months looking at a lot the main indicator being last eight over tooth i am sure (possibly wrong) now the 11 teeth is much harder to find with a normal last 8. Michael Gouby lists BP1898B with two last eights (normal / bisect ) and although both much scarcer than 10.5 teeth the normal eight in high grade is much harder to find IMO. Half a tooth however easy to tell at a glance due to the position. I have seen the LCA one from three years ago infact i was the underbidder, but never another in high grade. Does anyone have one or have an opinion as each time i spot one its always the bisect ?. Pete.
  22. So you can see what it is ?.
  23. Well my taxi mate has just been and i have looked through 61. Not one
  24. Think you have answered your own question
