  1. I assume you have looked under a microscope Terry is it not just a double struck colon ?
  2. All you need to do Declan is put the pictures of the fake (copy his) next to a real one and you will see the differences from there the only other difference on all the years is obviously the date in the fake bun pennies Alarm bells should ring on 1864,69,71 and 1875H in high grade that are all over ebay.
  3. Hat Off He made no mention at all about the 1871 being a novelty or replica and had 5 bids from 5 different bidders he would of sold it if it wasnt for you.
  4. Yes.......
  5. One of my favourite sellers has listed an 1871 Penny Pisses me off as he knows its Fake.
  6. Is it not just a die clash ?.
  7. The power of the forum soon sold after being put on here Will be interesting to see if the flaw shows on any others of the same F66 1874H as that was a decent grade.
  8. I have just noticed this thread and have one also. As the thread is a few years old wondered if the numbers have increased alot ?.
  9. I seem to remember alfnail doing a similar excercise with the 1844 penny of which he looked at a lot although i cant find the thread now with the pictures. The theory was exactly the same though.
  10. The two posted above are both nice for the money and good buys......... more importantly not £2K + for a cleaned / verd one
  11. Yes its one of those Mike were they are rare but i would not want one thats not nice to look at and personally would sooner have a gap
  12. The 1864 i would sooner have a lower grade one thats problem free. The cleaning and verd would annoy me and for that kind of money i would prefer to spend it on something else
  13. Teach me .....i thought it said 1862 and didnt bother looking at the picture ,they are 1962 so quite cheap really Yes i agree Jerry not a problem when listed correctly however the sellers who relist them get on my fu£$%n nerves.
  14. I dont think he will sell 20 1862 though for £2.50 and you can make an offer
  15. Like most that are so called rare Rob sold at the best time
  16. Thats a clear nice example and although not rare most seem to be low grade and worth checking as i have found a couple . The second picture one was sold on ebay by john blyth about twelve months ago . Think like most varieties people just start looking for them so more turn up and if i remember correctly a forum member found one that sold for over £1k at LCA a few years ago and at that time was considered rare. In goubys book as BP1893B
  17. Yes i agree i could not believe the £72,000 for what really is a copy
  18. Sounds good and good luck to them What is ridiculous is Colin Mcgregor who could end up with £100 million for a sport he has professionally never done before and will end up a complete farce.
  19. Thoughts are with you and your family.
  20. Out of interest what year did it sell for £24K ?.
  21. What you on about Peck When i bought it Richard told me he had one and also the Workman one then mine. Think thats three so cant see any reason why there is not anymore.
  22. Not having a clue about silver are those marks from a rusty die or just wear /bag marks.....as i have no idea ?.
  23. Is it a typo as does say £900 in the heading which may be more on the mark.
  24. Thought maybe i would start here if anyone can help me please. The knot in one of my shaving brushes fell out this morning and not sure what to use to glue it back in. Its more a sentimentle thing really as my dad bought it me years ago so i wont just throw it away and just needs glueing back in. I have tried the internet as was going to phone the maker up to see what glue is probably best as the bristles were obviously put in some kind of resin. Anyway they dont exist any longer so any help would be appreciated. I dont want to put the wrong glue on and ruin it Pete.
