  1. Hi Barnzy. If you have a show nearby i would go and have a look as soon as you get the opportunity. The dealer will be able to answer the questions you may wish to ask. Lots of coins of different years and denominations to view and have a look at (in hand) of which the grades will be alot more on the mark than the pictures and descriptions on ebay. Also type in the search button top right on this forum , anything you may be interested in has probably been discussed before. Welcome to the forum and happy collecting Pete.
  2. When i phoned yesterday as i couldnt log on i was told it maybe was because i was logging on to the home page. If i clicked on the auction tab and then log in it worked straight away. This morning as i had forgot i tried from the home page and it wouldnt work, then remembered clicked the tab and again worked. Just reading through the threads above and sorry if i am interupting ....feel like i am talking to myself
  3. Also what threw me is when i clicked on bid nothing happened as you then have to click on again to confirm it. It was like bidding on ebay not a problem if you are aware but i wasnt and caused a delay on my bid being accepted. With the hammer going down pretty quickly on some i am sure it must of happened to others and why yesterday he was taking online bids after the hammer.
  4. I couldnt get the live stream Rob with the sound running ,so had the saleroom site for the volume and bid through Baldwin at the same time although only one bid it worked ok Fortunately although the coin i bought was a halfpenny it wasnt the one you wanted. I would be pissed off also
  5. Farthings between 1897-1918 were darkened at the mint ,so as not to be passed over for a half sovereign. Its known as hypo.
  6. Not a clue really Mike I wrote down a maximum of £500 but as that was your bid i went one more
  7. Sorry if i put the price up a bit for you Mike as i was the underbidder
  8. On the Auction subject Heritage have opened an office in London

  10. Looking at DNW for tomorrow and lot 1145 is not a F65 Lots to look at from this morning until it finishes though.

  12. A Weirdo Said he got me mixed up with someone else
  13. On the point you raised above Stu Yesterday looking at my ebay i had received feedback from a coin i bought last week along the lines of........."Buyer never contacted me and would of got refund left negative feedback F%^%in idiot." Made me laugh as i hadnt even left any feedback I mailed him and told him to take it off of which again he went on with himself. Anyway the point i am making is i phoned ebay who accessed my account and looked at the messages etc ,deleted the feedback and sent me a copy of the mail they then sent him. The thing is they dont tolerate the abuse and language some pricks send people..... the seller then sent a message to apologise. All good fun Pete.
  14. He does try though like the 1862/1 thats maybe a little expensive
  15. You wont be able to remove toning (it is what it is ) without making the coin look worse as a proof and will not benefit from being dipped IMO. Unless someone else has some other idea
  16. A serious question ......Why do you think it would be worth something or more than 1p as you went to the trouble to post ?.
  17. The only book is the latest Freeman that has the updates of some recent ones including the two you mention. The biggest finds are the ones nobody knows about and people perhaps are looking for
  18. I dont think so Terry (i cant see any ) although its sometimes hard to check as it depends as to what they may describe it as Just the 1860 there are over eighty varieties.
  19. Good find and hat off Was only talking about these on Saturday to a mate and the english grading company now slabbed three.
  20. There is also a doubled 9 1897 variety.
  21. If anyone is reading this The one listed without a picture on the Mark Rasmussen site is a F166........ i know as returned it and although he agreed he has not changed the description.
