Yes i am sure your right ,i would of ripped mine open straight away I didnt quote you Mike as i knew you would of known it was more for anyone else reading it who didnt. More a percentage thing really just between 1937 - 1949 there were 622 million pennies minted ,so the ones ripped out would of soon got lost.

All the 1953 pennies were struck for the sealed plastic set that you still see thousands for sale now.In the 1960s the ones taken out would of been very few due to plenty tatty ones from all the previous years being used instead due to little value.

I dont have it to hand Jon and didnt take a picture of the OBV but has the die crack the same as the others i have seen 👍 This is the other i have and shows the die crack 🙂

Not much happening on here lately 🙂 Another recent upgrade that probably most people dont want or look for although i think they are scarce due to only being another dot / flaw and looking at a lot of 1922 pennies to try and find them. The only one i have seen that sold at auction was in the Workman sale. 1922 DOT and again like the 1909 DOT in the updated Freeman.

With royal mail you pay a handling fee for every packet that has an import duty which is determined by what the seller put on the label including the value .They also have the right to be able to open and check the contents of the packet to confirm whats in it. So more than likely its the handling fee and duty combined total £15.42.......Normally the boxes are ticked on the card they post you with the prices on. The handling fee goes to the Royal mail or alternative courier the seller may of used and the duty to the goverment.

You are correct on your first post Mike ,some sellers depending on how they are sent dont declare the value if its cheap and not insured.However if its insured and the seller has put the correct value on the ticket it brings it to the customs attention.

No Mike is correct the 1922 was £1100 ,you are on about the 1937 which was £111 K

The person to ask for some kind of provenance and thoughts would be Gary D if he still uses the forum. The coin was in the collection he sold not long ago and put a link up , just before christmas last year.

No.....IMO Adam the two parts to the right you can see ,first part is the internal V and second part external if that makes sense. If the second part is raised on the coin , maybe why your line does not look straight 🙂

Yes its a fantastic collection rather than just being the same denomination and think some may look a lot better in hand . The Spink photography IMO is sometimes not very good when reproduced for the catalogue. Good luck to the owner of the collection 👍

One was and one wasnt ,although i have had a couple of low grade ones that were not , collectors look for the F169 and maybe dont want or bother to look for the dot. Its not much of a variety

Yes ,you may well be right Mike and as i mentioned my collecting interest may be different than most ,its just my own preferance that if i have two of something that are similar i will always keep the one with the most lustre.
