  1. Thank you for your reply Jerry and could not understand why if someone received payment for something regardless who from they would ask for the money again or the return of something .The contract was resolved and full payment made to the sender by the insurance company and is upto the insurance company if they wish to proceed. As you mention Jerry it is afterall the seller who needs compensation and he has had it. I also thought possibly wrongly that the packet had been wriiten off and was not up to the person the insurance company had paid to ask for payment again or the return of something they NO LONGER OWN. Is this not a matter for the insurance company to contact the purchaser if they wish and not the sender who has accepted full payment ? The purchaser notified the seller straight away and was delighted and IMO not hiding anything or done anything wrong.I feel IF Richard was contacted for a return of any money by the insurer (which i dont think they will ) the purchaser only at that time would be responsible to make a payment or return to the insurance company or Richard. I dont profess to be right but asking for another payment ,return or court all does not sound right to me.......although i dont have a clue 😃 As it is today nobody is out of pocket apart from the insurer ,although i am sure they are still making a few quid and a rare coin has turned up that can be continued to be passed down over generations.👍
  2. Is that information legally correct Jerry or just your opinion or thoughts please ? Also this and mainly " The matter of the RM compensation has nothing to do with him " I assume you have checked Jerry or know what you are saying is correct . Does the overwritter (Royal mail ) contact Richard or the other person ,if or should they contact anyone at all ? Pete.
  3. I doubt that was a common saying Paddy ...........I have just spent 5 minutes trying to read it out loud and given up 😂
  4. "Dont eat that its a bit powsey and have a sugar buttie instead " My grandma lived to 103 without going into a home and always used to make me laugh with her daft sayings. Everyday she had some whisky in her tea at 3.00 and her saying to me when i passed her one "is the whisky in the bottom of the cup ". There are loads of sayings in Lancashire but in a dialect nobody else would understand 😂
  5. Having a look its already been cleaned and the stuff thats left maybe rock hard / live. Scratching it off with a pin and retoning it is probably the only option ,putting verdicare or acid on though will at least kill it but wont remove it and better looking black IMO. I doubt a TPG would touch it as to far gone and wont do anything with damage ,graffiti or corrosion but does not cost anything to ask. I think i would politely ask Jerry to work his magic and give him a good few quid if he is kind enough and can find the time , as you have the confidence he knows what he is doing With the green / blue gone and the coin retoned would be a big improvement. Otherwise just put it away and dont look at it 😃 Sorry if i have dragged you in Jerry and put your name forward 👍
  6. They all have the extra leaf ,although obviously the low grade ones it cant be seen and the same width with the higher 9. Pete.
  7. Was a lucky find really in a household goods auction online but not attributed. Auctioneers scans.
  8. One i found a couple of weeks ago that are rare in a decent grade. Not been on the computer much lately as have my leg in plaster , Happy Christmas and all the best everyone 😃
  9. Thank you Peter ,like most varieties you dont know what may be found in the future or what other collectors may have that are rare and not share with people. Although it was a really nice one and may be a long time untill another turns up for sale that is UNC.
  10. Michael has now made his study of the 1847 No colon "Medusa" penny available for anyone that may be interested. http://www.michael-coins.co.uk/CP1847M-Medusa.htm Pete.
  11. Have a closer look and you will be able to tell as you can see were the other coin does not join the rim properly. Its a 1920 penny with the obverse hollowed out and an OBV 3 with the edge taken off put inside , its 2 coins been put together.
  12. The clue to Garys is the rim on the Obverse 😃
  13. I was going to sell it privately but after speaking to a couple of penny experts / dealers they informed me due to its rarity and grade it was hard to determin a price and to put it in an Auction.
  14. 1858 Large rose for sale at Baldwin St.James , interesting description. https://bsjauctions.auctionmobility.com/lots/view/1-3SYMYF/british-coins https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/2717123-002/63/
  15. Bronze ,copper ,brass will all tone and have the risk of spreading verd from one coin to another if the coins not seperated. You could put a couple of thousand in paper coin envelopes which are the same size as a coin and would still fit in a small box. Envelopes is the less bulky way to store them individually, although if you find a better option please let me know 👍 https://www.rpcoins.co.uk/collections/accessories Pictured bottom right.
  16. Individually in paper envelopes in a place that is a cool temperature.
  17. Unfortunately i dont think unless something is brought to there attention the American grading companies knowledge in varieties for British copper pennies is something they specialize in. You recently had a few that were listed on eBay and none of the varieties were attributed which although may not make them worth anymore i feel might help you to sell them.
  18. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1934-GEORGE-V-ONE-PENNY-GREAT-BRITISH-COIN-HUNT-/233684905043?nma=true&si=RoK94v15yq838hgYv7cnTr69aSs%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Yes the 1934 is different from the proof 1937 as its the rocks which are missing and a lot more prominent than the low relief parts of the proof.
  19. Yes.I was only talking about this the other week to someone about why it occurs. As far as i can find out there is no evidence of grease causing a blocked die in milled coins and just a phrase that has been used over the years.None was really used and was machine oil and i am led to believe the dies were washed after they had been set to strike a certain number of blanks. As you mention the pressure used (which i have forgotten ) if the dies had grease on would be to coincidental IMO to leave the same parts missing on certain coins .The 1937 proofs ( A reverse ) i think are more likely due to the coin being in Low relief either side of the waves that are central below the lighthouse and again on the two parts on the other side. The other years 1921 & 1934 possibly just down to wear on the die ,although the person i talked to by there own admission was only guessing. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1937-George-VI-Proof-One-Penny-coin-/133528613684?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=RoK94v15yq838hgYv7cnTr69aSs%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1937-Proof-Great-Britain-George-VI-One-Penny-Freeman-218/154082935889?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Great-Britain-George-VI-Bronze-1937-1-Penny-NGC-MS63-BN-NICE-BU-KM-845-015/313172444843?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I have looked at a few in hand of which these are some pictures of three i found on the same day.
  20. Thats a much clearer picture Terry and shows like the 1934 its the rocks that are missing and not just the waves 👍
  21. Sorry for the Large picture it was Matts that i bought off him and only had one more ,although i sold both.Dave groom in the book also mentions other years that i assume he has seen.
  22. Richard is right its OBV 3 which is on F13 .

    Pennies

If anyone has any CGS graded pennies in high grade for type that they wish to sell at a FAIR price please message me. Unlikely probably on here 🙂 but you never know and will be buying them if anyone does have any for the next couple of weeks. I am not buying them at daft prices though ,just the same as i have never sold them to forum members at inflated prices. Pete.
  24. I made a few phone calls and sent pictures of this coin to a couple of people to see if they could help or tell me the reason for this 1858 penny and other copper pennies i have seen as to why the right breast was completely flat even though the coin was UNC. Due to it being the deepest / highest part of the die the metal from the blank did not fill the die ,either from not being struck hard enough or just being engaved to deep.So not always wear or a blocked die if the right breast is flat but the rest of the coin fully struck and UNC. Made good sense to me ,so thought i would share on here.
  25. Only in plastic sorry which are not the best .
