  1. New addition to my Short cross collection. Cheap at £40 inc p&p from California 😃 King John Class 5c - Struck roughly 1206 - 07 AD. Moneyer Beneit at London mint.
  2. I did voluntary work once in a charity shop. Some of the other volunteers and staff were like vultures rifling through bags for the good stuff and keeping it themselves to sell online. I imagine it's commonplace in other charity shops.
  3. Chichester was only operating for around a year 1205/06. That's why coins of that mint are rare.
  4. Yes sorry. It's all mints. I think the dies were made at London & Winchester .
  5. It's all class 5b3 coins. A broken punch was used to create the dies. Once you notice it you'll always be able to definitely tie a coin down to a 5b3 even if other details are worn or missing.
  6. John. Class 5b3. Rauf at Chichester . Notice the broken eye punches. Excellent find. A hard mint to crack. Great condition too. 👍
  7. Looks like a Roman coin to me. Right facing Emperor. Could be Barbarous the crown doesn't look right. Tetricus? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarous_radiate
  8. The torch was £46.99 the trimmers £33 on Amazon so a bum deal all round 😅
  9. What a nightmare!! Not coin related but eBay related. Decided to try my hand at jewellery making. Ordered a high spec torch nozzle off eBay. Found it via Google search engine. Seller based in Manchester. Buys it. This morning a hedge trimmer arrives as a gift from Amazon. WTF !!! is my reaction who'd gift me a hedge trimmer i don't even have a hedge. Only item outstanding was the torch. I then take a proper look at the seller. Hes got neg lots of it for lying as he's based in Israel and not Manchester. He's also got lots of neg for drop shipping off Amazon. I ring ebay they start a return on my behalf. The address label's gobble de gook. Tel aviv Israel Buckinghamshire. eBay now won't step in to refund me until the deadline of the 14. The guys got loads of negs for not responding to cases or emails so this isn't going to be resolved quickly. The moral of the story anyway is if you use google to search for a product check the sellers feedback before you buy instead of just seeing the price & location and clicking buy. Fuming! 😠
  10. It's was listed as Harald I on eBay. Sold. £900.
  11. It was definitely different coins. The details were more worn on the one on the scales especially around the lions and harp , the toning was completely different also. Least he did the right thing when challenged about it but he definitely intended to try and swindle somebody initially until he was pulled up.
  12. It's worked. It's been pulled. 👍
  13. The coin on the scales in the last image is not even the one he's selling. That one looks geniune with wear.
  14. Reported! 👍
  15. So they are! Well spotted ! Thanks.
  16. My moneys on pewter. Definitely fantasy knockups.
  17. Anybody got any idea what these are? They are certainly not Edward III Silver groats. The letterings all wrong and the obverse is too. They look plastic! Definitely replicas i think that have been exposed to heat to remove the telltale marks of a replica. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ancient-coins-3-x-Edward-III-Silver-Hammered-Long-Cross-Groats-1351-1369/273088909191
  18. With Acetone it's all timing. If it were a recent print within a few hours it would lift it but any longer it's hopeless. I have a lovely Irish proof 10 shilling coin with a nasty print on it. I tried using acetone on a Q tip to remove it but it never worked unfortunately.
  19. Think it's a sixpence as shilling doesn't have the Rose behind the bust. Woolpack mintmark. Sixth issue. Bust 6C. Spink 2578B
  20. Looks ok to me. I have a few that are bright almost like aluminium looking. The contemporary forgeries are easy to spot as they are brass with silver wash usually.
  21. Me too. The amount of fakes that womans sold as well. I wouldn't be surprised if she's had neg feedback removed by eBay which lulls buyers into a false sense of security that she's trustworthy and boosts her confidence that she's untouchable so the cycle of dishonesty just keeps on going. We've all reported her numerous times and not once have we had one pulled. It's a joke.
  22. Shocking how many idiots bid on these still. Must be the third one field_walkers sold this year so far. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Newark-Siege-Coin/122975070119 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/pontefract-siege-coin/162914190772 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Interesting-Metal-Detecting-Find/152915779212
  23. Agreed. His prices have risen since he started. Some are extremely high IMO. I am waiting for an adjustment on some before i bid on a few , if not I'll look elsewhere.
  24. Nice one here. Worth a bid. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/King-John-Short-Cross-Penny-Norwich-Moneyer-Renaud-Superb/183084005555
  25. We do all that John. Unfortunately once an items been bid on that's it , eBay won't pull it. We've posted thousands of items on here under ebays worst offerings that probably 25-30 people alone from these forums have reported to no avail. 99 % of fake /fraudulent items complete sale. We see it time and time again and we are following correct reporting procedures and processes. Ebay do not give a damn. It's all about money to them.
