Cheers. If you've any idea let us know. I suspect its a class 10 just can't tie it down precisely. The Edward Longcross series isn't my strongest area. If anyone knows why the pellets are put there and for what reason I'd love to know. Seems odd why some have them and others don't and also back to Richards original question "Are they rare"

I posted a similar one a few weeks ago with two pellets in the same place. I wasn't sure if it was an Ed1 or Ed2. Nobody responded.

Might be an issue at your end. All seems fine on mine. (Android).

If only I'd followed that advice. I've picked up some real horrors in my early days of collecting. But in some areas of collecting it doesn't matter i suppose. Jp mass wasn't fussy about his short cross coins. I expect eventually I'll sell them when the time comes , somebody will buy them like i did. Whether i profit or break evens another matter.

Wise decision. I've bought one £100 coin since New year. Managed to save just under a grand up in the meantime and i am being picky about any future purchases going forward now.

It looks like a John. Iohan at Canterbury. That's as much as i can see. There was a few Iohans minting at Canterbury under King John. Some had a single letter after their names to break up confusion as to who was who. The coins of Iohan M end in CA for the mint signature so I'd say it was probably one of his. He struck class 5b2 - 5c under John.

Those camouflage khaki coloured pennies would of been handy in the trenches. Shell shocked more like.

Its class 7a3. The 7bs of Roger at Canterbury usually end in a pellet after Can & the A is square topped in 7bs. Spink 1356A.

I based my classification on other features like the curls. Class 3 coins have pellets in the curls. This coin does not appear to have any pellets in the curls. Also the style of the V and S is characteristic of class 4a coins. Also the mint and moneyer confirms it as a 4a coin as that moneyer is only active at that mint from class 4a -4b. There is a Willelm on Nico active at Lincoln under Henry II in class 1b-1c but your coin does not have the characteristics of a coin of that class so it can be ruled out. Regards Stuart.

Looks like a class 4a. Willelm on Noi probably. Either Northampton or Norwich mint.

Can anybody give me a precise classification on this coin. I can't decide whether its a class 11 coin of Ed 2 or a slightly earlier one of Ed 1. Thanks.
