  1. Looks like a continental sterling. Possibly John of Brabant or John the blind. It definitely reads Ioan .Try looking on here https://www.sterlingimitations.com
  2. If he manages to get them all looking different colours he might just succeed in fooling a lot of people. That gun metal blues his trademark. Doesn't look like trading standards have moved on him.....Yet! Hopefully building a case.
  3. If you opt for the softback edition it can be sourced here slightly cheaper http://www.coinsofbritain.com/pages/books/books.asp?cat=2
  4. This is a good one. http://www.galata.co.uk/store.asp?storeAction=showDetail&stockID=6511
  5. Great analysis Rob. Thank you.
  6. Nice Groat. I have a Rosette mascle / Annulet reverse mule. Muling was fairly common on Henry VI groats. Not seen one of these mules though , extraordinary to think that the Pinecone mascle issue did not start until 1430 and the Annulet ended 1427 , i wonder if they had a large stockpile of those reverse dies. There's a great book on medieval groats by the late Ivan Buck. There is extracts from it here on Mike Vospers website. http://www.vosper4coins.co.uk/ivanbuck/Buck-3.htm
  7. I wasn't implying anything by mentioning him. What i meant is it looks like one of his strikes or a coin he's made (Dave G - Grunal Moneta). The ebay sellers the crook! (Whita natal)
  8. Thanks Rob. I thought it was. Had a look around online and i found a website with one that looks like a die match so that ties it up for me. http://www.farthingshalfpennyerrors.com/william-mary-farthing-1694-first-a-unbarred-in-britannia-single-exergue/
  9. Firstly apoligies if I've stuck this in the wrong forum , if it is a variety it's likely already documented. Just wanted a second opinion as to whether it is an Un barred A or just general wear?. The first A in Britannia looks un barred. I picked it up off eBay just listed as an ordinary W&M farthing.
  10. Looks like one of Dave G,s. His feedback says it all. Crooked as a dogs hind leg! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/silver-hammered-coins/163238595789
  11. Holy crap! Am howling 😅
  12. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unresearched-coin/323425790748 BIN price 😂
  13. Case Closed! My old volume of JJ north solved it. Edward III Florin coinage Class 4 Reverse I Spink 1548.
  14. Think it's Edward III Florin coinage. Class 3 ? Unfortunately that's a guess as I've no books on coins of Edward III I've came to that conclusion by searching online. If anybody can positively ID let me know. Thank you.
  15. Slightly better pic. Gave it some spit an foil treatment.
  16. Can anybody help me identify the class of this coin. It's had a few knocks around crucial areas like the crown. Thank you.
  17. Your welcome. Nice find.
  18. I think you are spot on Richard with the description . I make it Spink 2131 (vacant see).
  19. Looks great. Nice! 👍
  20. Back again! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-Pontefract-shilling-besieged-coin-hammered-silver-metal-detecting-find-1648/352435252921
  21. I managed to get a crease out of a Henry II long cross coin once. I heated it up and put it between two pieces of wood and belted it with a rubber marquee tent mallet. Sorted it out nicely but i wouldn't recomend doing it on something expensive like a saxon or viking coin.
  22. Not a problem. Thanks for posting it up. Stu.
  23. There's not much to go on i am afraid. The mints Winchester i believe as i can see INC which is part of WINC. Judging by the crown pellets I'd say a Richard or Henry II.
  24. It looks like a Venetian Soldino. Not sure of whom though as it's not my area. Try looking on google or finds.org.uk or here http://www.ancientresource.com/lots/venice/venetian.html
  25. Nicely done! Definitely 5a2 no doubt, reversed S is unmistakable. Quite a hard class to find in a good grade so you've done well.
