  1. If it's not Calais it's Bristol. The mintmarks consistent with a Henry VI Restored half penny of Bristol. Which is spink 2090. I can't add much more to that as there's not much to go on unfortunately.

    Book Wanted

Same here. When i am not collecting coins i am studying them. I sometimes feel frustrated with the lack of information in some numistimatics books . Not this one above though just some in general.
  3. Stuck for a Christmas prezzie for the missus. Why not buy her this Rod Stewart cameo ring ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Very-Old-Cameo-Ring-Metal-Detecting-Find/152806596664
  4. I use lighthouse flips. Before i seal a coin in them though it spends a month in a dry box with silica packs to draw moisture out its accumulated in the ground.
  5. Which confirms it was likely done in Roman times. The archaeology seems to support that anyway.
  6. Strange isn't it. Its a coin but if you stick a hole in it then it becomes jewellery which becomes treasure.
  7. It looks like a half penny of Henry VI. Rosette mascle issue , Calais Mint. c.1427-1430 Ad. Villa Calais it would read on the reverse. Here's a similiar example http://www.leodishammeredcoins.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&products_id=99
  8. He was abit abrupt but civil with me. Your well within your rights to report him mate. No need for people to be like that when your offering help or advice.
  9. I thought that. It annoys me when these fraudsters name drop to try and strengthen a lie. Scumbags. Just noticed as well £10 postage. It's safe to say it won't be selling for the time being with a price like that. Hopefully other people who see it will report it and it will get removed.
  10. I messaged him also. He's said he's pulling it. Result ! ?
  11. We get found in grand dads belongings quite often or found in shed or garden but this is the new lie. Found under the floor boards. Wow do they all live in 14th century hamlets? Bloody terrible copy as well ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTIQUE-SILVER-SHORT-CROSS-PENNY-FORMERLY-THE-PROPERTY-OF-JOHN-BRAND-R-N-S/322892100311
  12. Thats happened to me a few times. I find it annoying. I look at feedback now on sellers i am dubious about as usually you'll see other people complaining about items coming from china a month after ordering it and no mention of it being based in china in the listing or location.
  13. Another one from the lord westair collection https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/John-1199-1216-AR-Penny-Short-cross-1204-1209/192369018832
  14. Man you'd have to be a serious road trip with copious amounts of illicit drugs to even remotely believe that was a geniune coin. That's so bad. ?
  15. You've got some quality gold pieces. ?
  16. Its Friday and its a break from the thirsty job of hammering ? What a job he's got. Living the dream! ?
  17. Monkey Hanger lol. I just looked and saw he was based in Hartlepool and the penny dropped ?
  18. Cheaper & easier to overstamp the individual numbers than create a whole new die. Seems to be a really common theme on Elizabethan coinage.
  19. My one. Same date.
  20. Charles the Bold - Double Patard c.1467 -1477 Ad. https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/398107
  21. Both reported. ?
  22. Chichester is a hard one to get hold of as well.
  23. It is yeah. I think its Henry II/ Richard though. Not sure Halli struck under John. I don't normally collect cut halfs but can't resist it when a rare mint pops up.
  24. Done that once or twice ? AIIB i call them. Short for alcohol induced impulse buy!
  25. Found it on the bay mixed in with a load of unresearched bits an bobs of hammered coins. If anybody is after one similar somebody's listed one last night on its own though i think the description is wrong perhaps. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/John-cut-half-hammered-silver-penny-Halli-on-Rhuddlan-moneyer-mint-VF/263326027152
