  1. Another one for the blog. 1722 Farthing. One of my kids. Just found it mixed in with some 1ps and 2ps on my mantle.
  2. Latest addition. I've struggled in the past to find a decent portrait on Richards coins. Class 4a Moneyer Willelm at London mint Struck roughly c.1194 - 1199 Ad.
  3. They may not have the R on them. I've bought other replicas off museum reproductions for my kids. All are usually stamped with a discreet R.
  4. They may be marked with a small R. Museum reproductions do the same coin/token. There all cast from the same original. If you look at them you'll see exactly the same marks and indentations on them plus they look as if they are peeling. Take a look at the one here http://www.museumreproductions.co.uk/shop/viewitem.php?productid=466 Then examine the two from the eBay links and you'll see what i mean. On the paxs side next to the S in pax you'll see it looks clipped on the edge. Also the X in pax has a smudge / blob on it. They are just two easily noticeable marks on all of them. Also look at the short cross that runs on the obverse , notice the nick on the cross between the S and P. There is other noticeable marks too. ? Remember no two coins should look alike , each should have its own nicks and knocks.
  5. Heres a link to the rubbish pax pennies that are getting flogged. The two other links are ebay sales of those same crap pennies. Not sure how you can word it but the pictures may prove useful if you want to add them to your guide. Regards Stu. http://dorchesters.com/william-i-the-conqueror-penny-paxs-type?filter_name=Pax%20penny http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162695896234 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/hammered-coins/162738646034
  6. The rumours are probably true. Counterfeiting of an enemy states currency to destabilize their economy is a well known trick going back centuries.
  7. Found in the attic of a long passed relative. Where have i heard that description before? Hi DQ welcome to the forum. Post them up and we will see what we can do for you.
  8. The Geo III Irish bank tokens were heavily counterfeited. You occasionally see more brass ones for sale on eBay than genuine.
  9. Great guide. Don't worry about eBay pulling your guides. They don't bother. I have one up about fake pax pennies. I regularly update it with links to live fakes on there site. Nobody's said anything and its been active over 12 month's now.
  10. I know. I'll post it up in latest acquisitions when it arrives. A little off centre but you can't tick all boxes with Richard. I've only got 3 other Richards and the portrait is mangled and degraded on those. The fun parts going to be classifying it precisely. Moneyers WILLELM he minted from class 2 right through to 4b for Richard . ?
  11. Bang goes me saving for Christmas. I've just walloped £135 on a Richard 1st Shortcross. Best portrait I've ever seen on a Richy and it fills a gap in my set. Only just got listed , would of been a shame to let it slip by ? Note....this is real , Not a worst offering. ?
  12. Good luck. Hope you get them. I've not bought anything in weeks now. Christmas knocking an that. I still look though lol. Compulsion and force of habit ?.
  13. There was a time when I'd actually look through field_walkers stuff and bid on it. Them days ended a few days ago when i saw that phoney sixpence. I emailed them saying that as well. Told them it had undermined my faith in them as it was clearly a fake and hadn't seen a day under ground. I finished my msg with a man who walks fields should know better. Got a few sarcastic emails back about me assuming their gender and a music video link. I messaged them back saying their taste in music is as bad as the "detecting finds" and they must be Claires Accessories best customer. Sent me another msg with a music video link but i just deleted it. I can't for the life of me understand why somebody with a good reputation for selling good stuff would tarnish their reputation for a few quid. The mind boggles , Smh.
  14. If its listed as a coin it's worthwhile reporting it but if its an unknown metal detecting find , sold as seen etc type listing then agreed we are screwed and it's pointless reporting it. If your ever in doubt about anything or want a second opinion Pm one of us if it's something your interested in buying. I won't be posting anything up now unless it's listed in a way we can get it removed for breaking rules.
  15. I thought that was omega_02. Wasn't it a Charles 1st shilling also. There's not much we can do about the field_walker listing as it's not mentioned as a coin. It's a "detecting find" You know as well as i do the bloody things never seen a millimetre of soil on it but the listings unfortunately not breaking any rules. Its the new trick. I expect we will be seeing much more listings the same. I've seen a replica Lizzy 1st crown today listed the same. No point in me posting it here or to CCF as its listed as an unknown metal detecting find with the usual bollocks about i know nothing about this item i just dug it up nonsense. Plenty of idiot's unfortunately queuing up to buy the rubbish after being suckered by the "detecting finds" bit.
  16. Just one in your collection and your missus or kids could be convinced by some unscrupulous fiend that your collection is garbage and haggled down to nothing for your collection after you've passed on. I don't have any in mine. I've bought a few for the kids but that's it.
  17. Not my area but i salute you for your dedication. Quite a write up. Well done.
  18. I'd love to mooch through that lot but unfortunately your miles away. Happy hunting though. Good ☘ luck you never know there could be a gem in amongst them. Stu.
  19. Thank you. Bookmarked that link. I do have a log in for the site. Joined about 3 years ago but been inactive for awhile. I'll definitely be trying that. Stu.
  20. Looks real deal. VF as paulus said. Nice coin.
  21. See if you can make contact with whoever's running that site. Be worth sending your picture's to them for an opinion. You may get some answers.
  22. Yes i think you had one pulled awhile back that i posted on here using CCF. It does work. How do we go about reporting it to CCF is there a thread we need to post to specifically. I remember looking at the forums on there and being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of active comments on there.
  23. She / he knows full well what they are doing. They also know how to manipulate the listing to try and distance themselves from any wrongdoing. Scumbag.
  24. It's shagged! Looks like it was run over. £20 start price. What a dreamer ? I sent him a message late last night telling him that lizzies a copy. He's not replied to me. Correction.....Just checked my emails. Two msgs off him/her. One rambling nonsense about not knowing him / her or if he's got a penis between his legs and another linking to a youtube video called you don't know me by Jax I stated in my original message a man who walks fields should know better than to be selling this rubbish. Appears to be taking offence at me Gender assigning him/her. Absolute idiot! But unfortunately there's nothing abusive in them that would warrant me reporting them.
  25. Sadly this is all too common nowadays. Get a good reputation selling geniune stuff then move on to selling repros and Claires accessories trinkets passing them off as detecting finds.
