  1. They are all really nice and Hat off
  2. Hi Ian.

Small florescent dots as on both sides of the 1902 penny you bought are signs of live verd of which only a couple will be detrimental should you decide to sell.

They are probably easily removed and of no concern but better to look out for.

If a couple of dots show (live)it is always having a look at the remainder of the coin before buying.

The live verd may now only show as spots but the remainder may have left / leave corrosion.

Oxidisation and poor storage will leave a green tinge or colour.

On common coins such as the 1902 better left alone.

Its a lovely coin but take note if you start spending over £50 on another date for one.

    Pete.

  3. It may not be verd/corrosion but a common date and sometimes you see coins stored that show signs of blue (on bronze ) mainly from pvc ,chemicals or tinges of verd (green/bright) that will show under a bright light. Hope i have not put you off as a lovely coin for the money. Be lucky. Pete.
  4. Its a lovely coin and for the money was a good buy Its only my opinion and thats all...... so maybe i am being picky,i dont have it in hand. A lot of the reverse does not just look like dirt and thats my only question. On the reverse between the P in penny and the tide line ,just wondered what was going on ?. Its a nice coin for the money though ,so maybe just me Happy collecting and just wrapped the FOC penny up..... and will post tomorrow Pete.
  5. IAN its definately AUNC ....IMO But you have the coin in hand Being Honest mate on the larger pictures may not of been stored brilliantly, but still nice. But if you paid the right money thats the main thing
  6. Happy hunting mate. Its nice when you find one that is different. Be lucky and keep smiling. Pete.
  7. Brian. When you start looking at most copper pennies closely they all/most have differences and have been recut or different. The scarcer ones are more obvious such as on Richards site of which the time well spent looking. This means they are easier to spot on Ebay pictures etc. Pete.
  8. Again cant get rid of this................ Matt. Gary schindler will point you to the thread on this forum or help. He has a couple. Pete
  9. Alfnail knows his coppers and some quality pictures
  10. To be honest....and i am being A couple i will buy ,prepared to pay well over the odds. The proofs dont do anything for me ...so i am out. If i bought one proof would then be spending time and money looking for all of them Thats about it really . Pete.
  11. Thanks Prax. Not sure about Boothy having .......purchased the 1827...... or even Davies being the under bidder. That is not really important. Your post is interesting and thank you again Good luck on any bids you might make.
  12. Thats something i have heard before You may have given up with the idea and due to the customer service no longer interested although they have been busy with the auction and London coin fair. Not making excuses for bad customer service, but i just phone up as often easier. Alternatively if you phone up and ask for Paul you can have a chat and explain what you want
  13. Thank you for your reply
  14. Not having collected pennies at the time ,were a lot bought by the same few people or in your opinion were there still a lot of collectors as today or more. I would be interested if coins were bought by people who you still see ,alternatively have really good collections and not prepared to pay over the odds for the odd one. Its a wide open question ,but do you still see the same collectors from ten years ago ?.
  15. Glad you got .....ONE.... Matt
  16. Enjoy yourself and have a good time. If i had to decide on the midland coin fair or Rome.........Well
  17. Nice introduction
  18. Auction now online
  19. Should of said they will disagree with my opinion
  20. Most will probably disagree Jerry ,but would sooner say my bit.
  21. Will leave it as that coinery......I personally will never use it ,you will
  22. I have read this forum almost daily for three years.. When i gave an opinion that is what it was. If i spilt red wine on the carpet ,yes i would clean it .....i am not some kind of tramp. I dont ....atleast most of the time spill red wine on coins ,so dont have to clean them. Months ago i would of agreed with you but no longer. Do you see any results from coins you put acetone on ten years ago You carry on using it.........i wont. Your statement of complete and utter rubbish i dont consider to be fair and just your opinion. You keep cleaning them ,which is what your doing........and i will look after the carpet Pete.
  23. Jerry ,just my little bit and only my opinion. Acetone leaves a chemical residue that is there and that i have no doubt. When i mentioned water it was a bad example i.e. distilled water gently over the slight marks within any high points on only low grade coins. ACETONE should not be used at all ,and WILL SHOW ....If its an expensive coin leave Acetone well alone. Pete.
