Vicky ...Chill out as you told me a few months ago. You just bought a cleaned 1905 penny for £xxxxxxx Dont be talking to much about photos..... Hat off. -
Yes .....I would show a coin to three people and they might not be far off with the grade. Its the one who finds a fault i am looking for ....That as i have found and studied over the last few years is a lot harder. Lights,magnification,edges.....Has it got FAULTS They are never going to be perfect but the knowledge Paul had with regards rejections at cgs was quality ,can only talk about pennies. Just a phone call and i made dozens....Paul.... what do you mean ?..... explained in depth and sure he was pissed off with me asking questions untill i understood. We all want to learn and sometimes as with anything costs money......as does grading. Exceptions too everything ,you may not agree . They put in a slab and tell you about things that a lot of selllers / buyers wish to ignore or not mention. YOU PAY FOR SOMEONE INDEPENDENT....might not be good news You pay ... and they tell you an opinion...and saved me a lot of money in the first couple of years with rejections and learned a lot also. I had quite a few rejections on coins worth £500 + and got my money returned from dealers straight away , who i continue to buy from. I have learned a lot more since and continue to do so..from in some instances Pauls explanation. So for everyone who wants to put a bad word in not a problem as your not interested and if you are happy you will never need them. From me Be lucky. Not a sales pitch....infact not anything ......but the truth. Pete.

Thank you. I am not being difficult, its not always about grade. For me its about has it got a PROBLEM i didnt notice. A lot of people miss the obvious because they dont want to see it IMO. GRADE mad ...not looking at the problems

The Copthorne collection of pennies

Did you buy something exciting ? Must be difficult to not buy from two sets of pictures as you had ,both Steves website as a comparable to Colin cooke ?. -
A nice coin ....is a nice coin....unless your selling them it does not matter, but i am putting them away(apart from duplicates) for a long time. I have over two hundred slabbed cgs pennies ....Boooooooooooo I dont just have them graded just for the grade ....more importantly are they ok and not rejected. Believe me ....some people with years of experience would perhaps be suprised with rejections, proven faults with some coins. Someone like me who might pay a few pound for a coin ,happy to pay a bit more for a second opinion as putting the coin away for a few years. So for me i am not too bothered about sheldon scale or any scale... more is the coin OK. Grading companies just grade the coin more often than not....i have good mates with years of experience can do that. I want someone to tell me as a second opinion if / whats wrong with it....a lot harder. Pete

If anyone is interested in a copy of the prices realised ....email colin cooke and sure they will mail them as a print off to put with the catalogue -
Thought it only fair to say what i was sending....No moaning as not costing anything. 1875 Narrow date 8 +H 1876 Wide date 8+J 1873 Gouby BP1873 Aa...but a bit unusual....... 1897 High tide. They are not BU but not washers ,sure worth adding if you dont have them. Keep smiling. Pete.

Thought i would put my two pence or one pence after looking at another thread and only my OPINION. If a number of coins have been sent and the price been agreed for slabbing and paid prior ..........the service will be provided as i am led to believe. You need a time period to slab them and then start a new business again.........,not a transitition with what about these 1100/1400 coins that are half way through grading. They need slabbing and grading and they are commited but not to acknowledge.........IMO......... anymore new submissions and put the brake on Slab what we have.........then move forward......OR BACKWARDS If a buisness wants to give reasons ,they can give any they want ...nothing to do with anyone else ,unless your an investor ,if that devaluates its again up to them. Not quite the same as booking a table in a restaurant.....chances are you pay after you eat ....or say its POWSEY ... It does not really inconvenience you (most members of the forum) and not got any obligation to anyone ,as you currently dont have a choice anyway and cant submit a coin. As someone who has used them ..........just would like the website back up Weather thats right or wrong its not something that can be closed today and opened tomorrow and hope it works for everyone in the future .......I am not an investor and none of my business........just want the website back live...... Without graders consistently grading WE/YOU wont need them just put pictures on the forum If the buisness plan is worthwhile....well nothing to do with me Keep smiling . Pete. P.S.ONLY my opinion and sorry for any spelling /grammar mistakes

Not read all the previous posts but seen your happy and hat off Paul ....think you might have to wait for your grades a bit longer
-
Colin is the main forum guy with regards selling farthings/helping you and sure he will look after you and you will be happy Also if thats what you wish to collect Colin cooke do a free regular farthing catalogue and the person there is also honest and worth a phone call. Happy hunting........glad your not looking for pennies

Hard to pick the winner of the open and think most people will just pick the same five or six players . To get rid of mine easier to just post you want a go and will let my grand daughter pick one out of a hat on friday However many have a go , it means someone will get them even if one or ten have a go. These are only pennies but happy to send and post FOC. Pete.

Just a guess Paul

They could of left the website up......i received some coins yesterday and cant enter them or sell my duplicates Its not a big deal ,but they could of put things on hold for a few days with regards submissions etc. But still kept the site open.....i am led to believe the site should be back up by Tuesday . It would of been courteous to inform people who have sent them some coins over the last couple of months they will continue to grade /slab them. Not just shut the site new management and .............

Unfortunately maybe a couple of people paid it. Out of order and really annoying . Sure its nothing to do with the business model moving forward ,more lets get as much out of it while we can . Pete.
