  1. We still want to see them, don't we Matt? @Nordle11
  2. Well I have done my best to photograph my 1951 crown from the set (red box, black ribbons). I have a Spink receipt from 1952 for it too, which is nice Half Crown and Spink receipt also pictured
  3. VERY good suggestion ...
  4. My 1951 proof set is in a red box. The reason for my question surrounds the 1951 crown in particular ... yes it is stunning but in the individual boxes it s plentiful and fetches £5-£10. Not sure the example in the 'proof' set is any different. Spink describes it as 'proof-like' and worth £15 in UNC (2015). I thought the Penny would be the most sought after of the 10 coins in the set. What I like about it most is it came with an original Spink sale receipt from February 1952 for £1 15 shillings Maybe there were both red and green boxes for these sets, as for the crown alone. I'll take pics and post soon
  5. Question - I have a 1951 Proof Set which I have not looked at closely or photographed yet. Is the crown in the proof set any different to the very common boxed one?
  6. Tremendous reverse Rob, need to re-engage your camera experts
  7. Well that one is jaw-dropping Great pics too
  8. Make a mistake in the title of a new post and you're buggered! 'You' to 'Your' please @Nordle11!
  9. I believe these coins were available in very high grades over 10 years ago much more cheaply than we find today, so I would love to see what collectors have from 6d to crown I'll kick it off with my best, a Half Crown

    Slabbed panda

Very true Rob, I guess in essence I am questioning the use of the term 'bullion coins'. If they become collectable then they deserve a place alongside any other numismatic item, but to me the word 'bullion' then becomes almost irrelevant, except to indicate why they were struck in the first place! Maybe I have answered my own question ...

    Slabbed panda

This is something I don't understand at all! If you are buying bullion why pay way over BV? In this case the cost of slabbing alone would have been more than BV! I must be / may be missing something ...
  12. From the 'too good to sell' Pearce Collection? Very nice indeed
  13. I have posted this once before a good while back, but can anyone add some flesh to this? I've done some google research, but all I've really discovered so far is that the British Workman’s Public House Co. Ltd. was part of the Victorian temperance movement ...
  14. Were there just the 2 designs of these? I've been lazy and not checked D&H yet ...
  15. Your local chemist should have some and it's pretty cheap, about £1 for 50 ml. Don't use nail polish remover!
  16. Anyone can visit here and, without even logging in, see any content that is not in the 'Members Only' section (as far as I am aware). If I were any dealer, auction house or grader, I would visit here regularly, especially if that means I will be reading frank and honest comments, potentially about my own business ...
  17. Not at all unlikely
  18. And in removing this capability they have again broken the links to the CGS/LCGS coin pics from their London Coins for sale listings
  19. PR65 at a stab from me ... although I didn't know there were proofs for 1939!
  20. Is this of any interest? They seem impossible to get in a decent strike/grade combination!
  21. 18th Century version of "gotta be in it to win it"
  22. Hadn't spotted that, you ID'd it already I'm hopeless with non-English! So quite possibly it's ok then ...
