  1. EF all day long on that 1935, for me
  2. Demand and supply as always, with many variables affecting both
  3. 'Forum God' is automatically applied to your profile after a certain number of posts, and should certainly not be taken literally (except for Rob!) I am not a 'half-crown specialist', but here is my take, for what it's worth ... published mintage figures indicate how many coins were manufactured in that year, not necessarily how many were manufactured with a particular date on the coin there are 2 main types of 1926, neither of which are particularly rare (third coinage - aka Modified Effigy being slightly rarer) I'm surprised you have found many 1925's, especially if some are high grade, these are genuinely scarce I believe
  4. Nothing wrong with Ronnie James Dio as replacement lead singer, legend
  5. Mid 70s to mid 80s were my main concert going years, never saw Rush but pretty much everyone else I wanted to, great times
  6. Classic prog rock for me, but also like the supergroups you mention Would love to know the dealer, give us a clue!
  7. Happy birthday!
  8. Ebay, if you're patient and invest the time! Maybe it's the pics, but I would at least expect the lions to have faces! @Nonmortuus
  9. All the serious UK based penny collectors will have been aware of this sale, the $ vs £ rate may have affected the UK bidding slightly. I thought it would go for far more.
  10. These are so common in high grade that you should be able to pick up a better one for under a tenner, based on those pics - sorry! At least it wasn't a big purchase!
  11. If those are the seller's pics then probably the seller has enhanced them, happens all the time
  12. It's personal preference, but evidence of cleaning kills the eye appeal and value for me
  13. I don't think it's bad form to talk about prices paid, or where you go the coin from at all - in my view that is a platform this forum provides! Only need to be careful about inaccurate claims, opinions are fine and welcome in my view! I'm not trying to dodge your question on price, just that I don't tend to look at lower grades much these days, especially those showing some evidence of cleaning. In my honest opinion I would have thought £50 would be a fairer price.
  14. I couldn't grade that higher than GVF personally, and I do think the hairlines affect its value, OH crowns are getting harder to find and very expensive in GEF+, I'm struggling to get a type example I am totally happy with. This is my best so far, looking for better (graded as aUNC by a TPG who's name I can't mention for fear of psychological consequences)
  15. I agree with Dave. Probably the artificial light in the second pics is using standard incandescent bulbs, while daylight LEDs may be better
  16. I'm not a gold coin collector although I have a handful, but I must admit I thought the gold content was over 90% (22/24)?
  17. Like Jemima Puddleduck you mean?
  18. I agree but reluctant to name and shame in case of repercussions to be honest! Just one bad experience, and not too expensive, but it was enough! Mine was just a low value coin, a G3 graded as EF that was more like nVF, an early mistake.
  19. Welcome back Mick! What do you still have and what are you going to be focusing on acquiring?
  20. It's sad but I don't even think of modern non-circulation decimal stuff as proper coins any more
  21. Was postage on top? Very common and lots of wear for the issue ... again. ask opinions before you commit
  22. That looks a very nice example, but why not check with the members on here BEFORE you buy? How much did you pay?
