  1. Thanks Dave, I may be missing something but I am non the wiser as to what these " various non-invasive and industry-accepted techniques" are!
  2. It happens all the time, London busses syndrome! Ideally upgrades cost not too much because you bought well in the first place! Can you share the example you upgraded from and presumably want to sell?
  3. It's a lovely coin Mick but I don't know what you paid (unless you have said that elsewhere!)
  4. I'd be very interested to know what they do to it to 'conserve' it
  5. No hurry at all, really nice of you to do this Pete
  6. My only later milled penny gap is a William IV example, and maybe a cartwheel penny too
  7. Ah, yes, possibly, will take a look at that too. Silver, but also very broad types of copper/bronze e.g. 1 copper Viccy penny, 1 old head Viccy farthing, 1 cartwheel tuppence etc etc
  8. Just a bit of excess metal I think
  9. I would have thought the postage would be cheaper than that, but happy to pay whatever it costs! I'll take your earliest 20 copies please Pete
  10. NEF sounds about right to me, from those pics it doesn't shout eye appeal at me however
  11. What do you reckon on this one Colin? @Colin G.
  12. Nice one Mick!
  13. All those plus 60s/70s prog for me
  14. I heard Pennsylvania is key too. Trump in to 7/4 in places, I expect extreme stuff on the run up to polling day!
  15. Thanks Colin, I did check your site the other day (of course!) I'll check periodically
  16. Trump currently as short as 9/4 in places following the recent vague Hilary email investigation announcements - my expectation is a cliffhanger
  17. It's a no-brainer to me, a single currency system is unsustainable without economic union, which is un-achievable in the short-, medium-, or possibly even in the long-term. I don't have sleepless nights about it, it just won't work.
  18. Any date and variety will do, needs to simply tick the grade, eye appeal and problem-free boxes. However a 10 minute search reveals nothing that appeals, and I'm amazed at the grades given to some for sale, e.g. http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?page=retailv2_details&uin=0028683 Really? That's choice UNC? Put me back in my box! Any spares @Peter?
  19. https://www.facebook.com/officialrussellkane/videos/1222275094514142/ Made me laugh anyways!
  20. It has just occurred to me (somewhat belatedly) than the same OP question can be related to wives/husbands and girlfriends/boyfriends
  21. Once added to your collection, do you then get as much buzz out of owning in vs chasing it down?
  22. I have talked about this with a couple of members recently, and the subject resonates with me, very interested in your views. Personally, when I acquire an upgrade, or preferably a gap coin I have been searching for, I gain a lot of satisfaction/pleasure if the grade/price/eye appeal is proven in hand. Then I will take the best photos I can, catalogue it, and sometimes post pics of it on here and other sites. I sometimes buy to sell, but most often it is to enhance my collection. Once I am happy with the purchase, and with my pics, the coin will be filed in some way ... stored away in my safe in an envelope, a 2x2 flip, or occasionally slabbed. After that I tend to only look at my pics of the coin I have just acquired, or try and take even better pics, but the thrill of hunting the coin down in the first place far outweighs any subsequent pleasure from owning it. All thoughts welcome @PWA 1967
