Yes when you start looking there are not many F176 although there is more than two sold at LCA. The Copthorne one i am sure is one of the ones sold at LCA and the Frank Stephenson one was from the Andy scott sale.... the Workman one is wrongly attributed. Although the F164a i think people have decided if they want one to settle for a low grade and the F176 maybe people will only look for a decent one .

Yes your right Mike as i had noticed those and have seen the same in other auctions , also had two F164 that are scarce posted to me from different dealers without pictures that were not. Ages ago when i started looking at them closely i realised that the F164 and F165 are much scarcer than the common F166 ,so much so that i found it much easier to look at the reverse first as if it wasnt REV D it was worth looking at the obverse. Talking to Jon a few months ago about the number of 1908 / 1913 pennies wrongly attributed he said "i think i will just call mine what i want as everyone else does " 😂 Why you have decided thats what your doing Jon as with the one above then atleast use a good one 😛

The main thing is to know what to look for as most auction houses / dealers dont bother and just rely on the people they have got them off and even when they are listed not always correct. There will be some in collectors trays who probably dont even know they have one A good example of this was the two that Dave craddock (mentioned above) had as he bought twelve 1913 pennies in a bag and two were F175. A decent one that sold on ebay recently by a dealer had been bought from auction and neither had checked and was also a F175. One i had was off a forum member who had bought a mixed lot of a few high grade pennies in auction and one was a F175 Yes much scarcer but worth looking and not just on ebay. This also possibly shows IMO amongst others i have found or know about ........ F176 is the scarcer of the two.

I have noticed the 1952 Proof penny is for auction in June and will be interesting to see the price it sells for ☺️

Yes Jerry as he has done numerous times before i think he just makes them up as he lists them anything that it rare for the year will do.

It has been with two numbers ,first the 5 and then an 8 the second strike a correction that was not done firm enough IMO. The first 5 being entered as again should of been done in reverse the third number on a coin would be the second to look at on the die.

What appears to look underneath on a coin is on top on the die as the die is reversed i.e. the field part is the highest point on the die. All sounds a bit back to front 😶

Yes nothing wrong with the coin if its what your looking for , it just seemed a bit early for buying christmas presents.

I have just googled and read about Exeter change Will and found it interesting ,i didnt know that we even had an elephant over here that long ago .Not just about the time years ago but how the building has changed etc to todays new building on The Strand. I had never thought about these tokens before ☺️ Do you know an approximate year of the token ?

I suppose what i meant was how you could tell the difference between dandruff and a tiny bit of something else. Nearly every coin that has good lustre and seen daylight will show tiny microscopic spots caused by anything that was on the coin.This can clearly be seen from the residue left from a finger print. IMO Its........ Does it look ok to buy or does the spotting or size of the spot not look pleasing and may develop further in the metal.If it looked ok when i bought it after decades then just store away the best i can which hopefully will prevent any further spotting or toning. The topic of the thread being about the condition that it was in when put in the slab and should hopefully not start to show spots after or further toning if stored corectly , but there is know guarantee. Will remember that one.......Sebaceous

i think its due to being so many individual coins they have listed all the UIN so somebody can look at the pictures on the PCGS site.

Yes which will help .However if you want to leave your slab somewhere daft it would be your own fault.

I think its NGC who only garauntee the grade for ten years ,i am not sure the toning is caused so quickly by the plastic but more how it is stored. Again you buy the coin and not the grade as has been mentioned numerous times on here 😊

I dont know who he is or why he has upset you Dave. If he is just buying them and selling them for more , maybe the people who are buying them perhaps do not realise they are paying over the odds ? As far as i am aware though he does not come on here so is not going to defend himself if he doesnt think he is doing anything wrong ☺️
