Yes i agree ,however the royal mint have now got a big customer base who are queing up to buy anything no matter how horrible it may look to us as pre decimal coin collectors. They now sell everything from wallets ,cufflinks and scarves. The plate coin may well be the next

Well just that seller has sold over forty in just a couple of days ,crazy i know but a lot more decimal collectors than i used to think and most seem to buy anything that is released. Dealers i speak to are getting asked every week for more and more decimal coins at shows and over the phone.

The 1877 is a really nice one for someone who has not got one and possibly even bertter in hand ☺️

The biggest problem for me is it takes a lot longer to go through all the lots closely and to see them in hand they are only available to view in London. Although the pictures are really good it was nice to view them with one click with the magnifier 🙂

Only guessing Mike but looks similar to ebay. when you click thje link a clock is going down to a finish day at 11.00 AM unless that is when the live bidding starts. Looks more like ebay though with cheaper items that can be bid on at anytime untill the finish time. I am probably wrong

Yes Mike your right ,what i should of perhaps typed is looks more like OBV 8 as all appeared different ☺️ They still often confuse me and when buying them and they are a few quid like to get a second opinion if i am not sure ,as a couple of forum members know who i am grateful. Even more so when i have got them wrong

Yes i thought they were different Richard and was using the ones above as being the only examples pictured. I am sure if you look at the full pictures of the coin Terry the difference will be more obvious with the nose etc Wish i was able to do some work instead of being bored daft

The second one looks like OBV 8 ☺️ but think i may be confusing myself

The die on the middle one and right one Terry dont look the same to me ,with other differences such as the fishtail on both ribbons are you sure they are both OBV 7 ?

They must of had a problem with the Y on the 1861 pennies as i have a F29 that has a restruck Y different to Terrys

The owner at the time had sent the coin to the Daily telegraph i suppose due to no computers for pictures etc and hadnt thought of sending it to the Royal Mint. They must of thought putting it in the paper that they could get a few quid for it. Needless to say within there reply on the 2nd july 1969 they said we dont have a clue why it has a milled edge

I think the comments made by Courtney are only going to be about the BSJ site of which he has given the oportunity to mail him / them should anyone wish to do so. The tab on the Baldwin site directs you to them and they have nothing to do with the Baldwin site. Both are completely seperate and different companies not even in the same building. About twelve months ago i had trouble logging on and a phone call soon sorted everything out ,of which since i have never had a problem. The baldwin site has been in the same format for years and the BSJ added on only about eighteen months. If anyone feels something could be improved or alternatively is Rang then comments IMO are better directed straight to either of the two companies rather than expecting them to discuss any issues on here. I should perhaps also mention as a positive i have sold over twenty lots with them and been more than happy with the prices realised (on most ) and the service.

I am sure i have read the edge was put on PM and therefore not intentional ,not done at the mint.. Although sorry Mike i cant point you to a reference as cant remember where i read it...... if i did ☺️

Ian gradon IMO pays the best prices depending on what you may have and the condition. You will find his website if you just google his name ,although looking you being in Australia is probably a disadvantage as he would need to see them ☺️ He does not update his site often or show a lot as always turning notes over quickly and does most of the shows both here and in europe.
