  1. There was a story in the newspaper today about a man whose wife chopped his penis off TWICE and the second time she threw it away and it was never found , they recon a stray cat or dog ate it
  2. Who buys that rubbish ? Ahhhhh that would be - everyone who just had to have an undated 20p because it will be worth £20 000 by the time they retire Also any customers of the London mint office
  3. She might do better doing a Mrs Richards on the phone and pretending to be deaf
  4. Well she strikes me of loving her customers as much as Sybil Faullty loved finding the builder O'reilly in their hotel Faulty towers
  5. sounds exactly like what M.P. would behave like Maybe they should team up as a pair.
  6. farthings were copied - but to be honest halfpennies were the coin that were concentrated on by most forgers
  7. A bit less than 3 million - sorry but unless its totally unc it's unlikely to get any premium at all even after ten years or so . you might do better putting it in a building society
  8. Lots of english-irish mules walking about in liverpool
  9. Indeed prob about 3/4 of all 1775 halfpennies are forgeries , but most are made in england and most circulated in the uk (that includes scotland and the whole of ireland. many are evasions with blundered legends All are collected though in really low grade they are worth very little
  10. looks like lead to me
  11. I always thought the pipes came from northern ireland and the scots just stole the idea
  12. wow lovely grade looks to me to be EF not many about in that grade
  13. Midlands coin fair for me -every time - loads of dealers and loads of choice - If you have £20 to spend or £20 000 you WILL find something that you like
  14. A Commonwealth games set just look on completed listings on ebay my guess would be £75- £90 not sure about the edin £1 but you could look on ebay again
  15. Looks like they might date from 1815 or so waterloo and all that (just a guess)
  16. Indeed it is quite obvious that some maundy sets are split up (1849 etc) and the very valuable silver 3d is sold off for treble what the maundy set was bought for
  17. "Yep low risk means losing money against inflation. One could argue wreath crowns are low risk they keep climbing every year." The ones that come out of china every year in large quantities for less than a fiver each are a problem though.
  18. IMO about £150 too much. But there cannot be many about in that grade so the guy has a right to go for a big price. Superb coin by the way.....
  19. As long as collectors hold the above opinion , we will have a very healthy hobby
  20. I am sure i am better off being a collector in the 21st century. Mainly because if i were a collector from the 19th cent I would be six foot under by now............
  21. Yes scott for some reason there seems to be a shortage of 1859 farthings in lower grade maybe it has something to do with it being the last date made b4 the scraping of the copper coins was decided.
  22. I must admit i have sold similar or worse examples for £20 - £25 they really sell well in any grade. Roughly six coins which is aprox one a month have found there way on to ebay in the recent past the only one as a buy it now sold straight away. In fact it is nearly as rare as 1844 in my opinion Contrast this to the number of 1853 farthings currently on ebay and you will see it is a lot scarcer than normally emagined. 1851 and 1852 are also rarer than most folks think
