  1. I'm with Rob. The thousands found each year in Scandinavia, Germany, Estonia, etc. do nothing to lower the price here in the UK and so I fail to see how it would be any different for coins in the UK that don't hit the market, either. Supply and demand.
  2. If you are viewing it in Firefox you should be able to right-click on the labels and then print the page.
  3. I do not follow you. Are you still opening them in Firefox or now in Adobe? Am I right in assuming you are now able to view the PDFs?
  4. If in doubt, try Chrome as a browser instead.
  5. Should be free: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/ (Be sure to untick any of those offers.)
  6. It sounds like an issue with the content if it is just affecting .PDFs and not other formats. Have a look here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file You should be able to change the default program to open .PDFs to Adobe Reader rather than Firefox.
  7. This guy does a good job of telling the truth somewhere in his description, be prepared to scroll.
  8. Looks very crude from the blurry photos above. Intrigued to find out more.
  9. Not a hammered coin but likely a medieval/post-medieval token: http://finds.org.uk/database/images/index/q/lead+token
  10. A very Happy New Year to all!
  11. You're only missing the naivity of eBay buyers.
  12. I've bought a couple over the years but have bought mainly books from them and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone. Very friendly and trustworthy people, in my opinion.
  13. A very Merry Christmas to one and all on this great forum.
  14. Definite repro.
  15. Are you interested in Arabic coins in general or is there a more specific aspect you intend to focus upon? I can send you a bibliography more focused towards examining them in Viking contexts if you so wish.
  16. There's Cambridge Coins that isn't in Cambridge...or Cambridgeshire... But it is close, just over in Bedfordshire. Then there's Gannochy Coins, but I wouldn't recommend them as the two times I've been in there I've been treated rather rudely - it's pretty central in Cambridge, not far from Sidney Street Sainsbury's in the back corner of a cycle shop. There's also Cambridgeshire Coins which I've no dealings with so do not know what they're like.
  17. Happy birthday, good sir!
  18. Bloomin' gorgeous.
  19. Late to the party but I do agree that it looks to be a 2.
  20. A belated birthday, sir!
  21. Hmm. Thought the seller looked familiar... Looks like me deliberately buying the first fake didn't help stem things as this is now three from the same seller.
  22. Can't believe I missed out this - that'll teach me to take a leave of absence.
  23. I'd be careful about sending this coin to be repaired to the States as I'd not be satisfied that they have enough experience repairing hammered coins. There are a few people in the UK who have done good jobs - it might be worth talking to a few dealers about this first.
  24. A large proportion of medieval markets were on beaches. Always a good place to scout a hammy.
