  1. That's an aVF in my book and worth far more than £300...
  2. This looks to be a class 10cf2 penny. It's technically Edward II but most references class it as Edward I. The obverse legend reads: "+EDWA R ANGL DNS HYB".
  3. I must admit their bullion can be attractive, but I still wouldn't purchase it for myself unless cheap.
  4. And it's being offered by one of our forum members. Looks like it has some deposits on the reverse, though.
  5. I get a 15% discount on FVF fees so selling on eBay isn't all that bad for me, but I only tend to sell stuff that's not in keeping with my website on there, e.g. modern coins or low grade.
  6. Very much so! Smaller denominations can be notoriously hard to identify. Nice additions for £12, though!
  7. They've been working in the region uncovering this royal tomb, too: http://www.livescience.com/47173-ancient-mausoleum-discovered-in-china.html Unfortunately the one you've linked has been making the rounds in the past few days but is actually a find from a few years ago, e.g. this article from 2011, albeit the Daily Mail... Incredible state of preservation, though!
  8. These photos are much better! Both are Henry VIII as you can make out SPI on the obverse which is part of the "h DG ROSA SPIA" legend typical of these issues. The one on the left is London and Spink 2356. The one on the right looks to be the same, as I can make out "ON D" on the reverse.
  9. Yep, there are many varieties in this series. Larger/clearer images and more precise measurements would narrow it down considerably.
  10. I'm not convinced that they're annulets. The one on the right is definitely a die flaw or excess 'blob' on the blank, and the one on the left isn't regular. It's got the distinctive Tudor portrait, and so I'd be inclined to say it's Henry VII like this: http://www.historiccoinage.com/shop.php?action=full&id=1001 but I'd need better images to be sure.
  11. Or Henry VIII. What's the diameter in mm?
  12. It's a Henry VII halfpenny, by the looks of it.
  13. This article and its associated user comments are hilarious. I originally thought this was a piece of satire but, alas, it's not. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/11012398/Is-Gardeners-Question-Time-racist.html
  14. I've got half a garage full of catalogues that I bought last year but I'm not in that part of the country at the moment. If you're still looking next month then let me know.
  15. I should add that dozens of coins have also had their price reduced across all categories, so please be sure to peruse the sections to see if anything appeals..
  16. If you're looking for an introduction that's fairly basic then Chris sells something that might appeal: http://www.predecimal.com/englands-striking-history-p-1278.html Otherwise even looking through your Spink guide will give you some idea or even looking at the collection of a friend of mine online might help give you some idea of what's out there: http://www.englishhammered.com/ Even so, there are enough people on this forum who will gladly help.
  17. I've just published my August List should any members wish to have a peek. http://www.historiccoinage.com/newadditions.php
  18. Not rare but all hammered is interesting! You've got fairly good examples and the Newcastle one certainly isn't an exceptionally ubiquitous example. Number 1 on this thread has an interesting 'cross' replacing the inner circle of dots between the side fleur of the crown on the left and the centre. It's just an example of a slight error/variety done when sinking the die. All in all, nice purchases! Was this a job lot and is it a sign of further hammereds to come?
  19. 1) Nicole on Cant. 2) Ion on Newecas.
  20. 1) Ricard on Lvnd. 2) Willem on Cant.
  21. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=191273491324 I've sent a nice email to the seller.
  22. The French title here will only apply to the gold issues, groats and halfgroats. The smaller denominations just don't have the space for a complete legend. As for online reference, not that I know of. A copy of North Volume II will help if you're seriously considering collecting late medieval hammered issues. Here is a reasonably-priced used copy.
  23. Depends on which countries and the years. But, I suspect, if they're from this era then there's not going to be too much value as they'll have most likely been picked from change.
  24. A quick look makes me think it's a Pre-Treaty Series E. Appears to have unbarred Ns and the obverse ends in II instead of LI. So this would be a variety of Spink 1586.
