  1. I asked. Hmm. Proved to him it's a fake and he still second chanced it to another bidder.
  2. As would I! Also, I've been told "Its not fair to get involved in other peoples livelihoods" -- wondering what this livelihood is. Selling fakes...?
  3. Seller's got back to me after I left him a negative and says he's asked "3 other peoples who have great knowledge in coinage" and "How have I treated anyone unfairly I treated you in a positive manner?" The coin is only two thirds of what it should weigh and I've found identical fakes on the Forgery Network... I answered the last question with mention of shilling, fraud, trade description, etc.
  4. That may be true, but where else can you pick up a class 1a penny of Edward I for less than £70?
  5. I've spoken directly with eBay CS about this rather than just filing a report. I hope they get in touch with the 'winning' bidder but doubt it somehow.
  6. French is a language spoken but far from the dominant, that's Arabic. It looks great, Chris! A nice uncluttered appearance.
  7. I'm not sure if you've been to Morocco, but every Moroccan I spoke to there spoke Arabic or Berber before French.
  8. Whilst we're straying off-topic, Moroccan is Arabic.

  10. Such a dishonest seller. I bought the original fake and attempted to educate him. He promised he'd not sell it as genuine but... Here's the original listing and here's the second chance. Nice feedback, too.
  11. I think pies is saying if you sent an item that wasn't tracked, then you're stuck. However, I always send coins signed for for this very reason.
  12. Providing you've got proof of postage and/or the signature obtained upon delivery the only claim would be "Not as described" and I'm not sure how someone could claim it was 179 days before they noticed it wasn't as described without PayPal suspecting something fishy.
  13. Whilst also announcing increased seller protection: "Now even more of your sales can be protected against claims, unauthorised payments and chargebacks. Protection applies whether your market is at home or abroad, giving you more confidence to expand your export business and start selling to overseas markets. There’s no limit to the value of each transaction we’ll protect, and we’re currently the only major payments provider in the UK to offer this kind of seller protection at no additional charge."
  14. Might it be a previous sale? http://www.laidlawauctioneers.co.uk/about_us.html
  15. I've emailed the seller, I wonder if he'll do anything.
  16. It's hard to tell from the images! The one in the CGS capsule appears more authentic from the other one, but that might just be the artificial lighting.
  17. Yet Forgery Network say it's from Museum Reproductions. The one on MR is completely different, so if it is then it must have been old stock.

  19. Very likely. Looks to be a 9b of Edward I.
  20. Precisely -- although Aethelred II rather than Edward. Looks more like a base styca from the thumbnail.
  21. I presume he means unresearched in terms of king or class. But yes, I agree, there's clearly been some research done!
  22. Sorry, Rob. I'm sure Mr Stocks will gladly provide full details of the coin if requested, he's probably found a die match in the Copenhagen collection!
  23. "A finest collectors specimen" Words fail me.
