  1. A great idea for a thread, Paulus ( )! The images don't do these toned pieces justice, I'm confident.
  2. This is one is a curveball as it's basically black.
  3. Golden/pink toning and a variation not mentioned in Spink.
  4. This is one of the most 'golden'-coloured silver coins I own.
  5. This has a blueish/purplish hue. Finding them hard to capture on camera.
  6. This has a lovely gun metal grey tone in hand.
  7. Two coins up for auction: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/historiccoinage/m.html
  8. Apologies for the delay. Managed to get hit by a car last week so been a little...out of it. Yes, Exeter mint of Aethelred's Last Small Cross. Moneyer is likely to be either Mangod, Thurgod or Isegod.
  9. This coin is typical of York examples from a hoard which was questionably disbanded... Genuine but I wouldn't be overly comfortable owning it.
  10. Very impressed!
  11. Mints & Moneyers During The Reign of Henry III by Churchill is a good read and Wren's guide to the Voided series is a good 'to-hand' reference for ID.
  12. Aethelred II Helmet penny, as Richard says. Legend reads +AEDELSIGE M-O CROC making this Aethelsige on Cricklade.
  13. A screenshot as I suspect it'll be changed soon.
  14. Have a look at the Fox brothers' work in the BNJ. Volumes 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10: Numismatic History of the Reigns of Edward I, II and III. e.g. Page 187 of this seminal work.
  15. ...a pint of ale? Very generous of you, old chap.
  16. It's hard to prove based on the dies and other evidence we have, but 10cf is definitely one I take to be the start of Edward II's coinage if I were to be specific.
  17. Don't get Vol. 1, get vol. 2 if you want Edward I & II. 11d isn't represented in Spink, either. It seems to just be different perspectives - perhaps 11d is seen as a 'mule' by some?
  18. Each publication seems to differ. Class 11 is often used as the starting point for Edward II's reign (although untrue) there is still some debate regarding the chronological ordering of the classes (e.g. 6 & 7) and even some people who disagree with class 1b being termed a 'class' and not a pattern.
  19. North. 11a1, 2, 3, 11b1, 2, 3, 11c and 11d.
  20. A nice Eddy, Stuart! I blame Clive for not starting one lol
  21. Yep - I think it is a 150. Would love to take it out for a spin. Edit: But know I could get a fair few coins in the upcoming Spink auction for that sort of money...
  22. I'm fortunate enough that quite a few people in my home village have some classics, so I snap a few photos when I see them. I'm also partial to doing some window shopping in the local dealer's.
