I have this sixpence of William IIII 1834 that is counterstamped what appears to be "MAB". I was wondering if anyone has come across information of a collector with those initials, probably Victorian?

I have no idea! It was on ebay as an Edward I penny!!! I think it is lead and might be a Mereaux or eclesiastical token or 'Communion Token' and could be anywhere from the twelfth to the sixteenth centuries! Any info would be welcome but at the moment it languishes with the coin I use as my avatar, in the "don't know" tray

I can only offer two very poor examples. Edward III Archbishop Thoresby of York c1361. Having tried (and failed) to read 15th century English, I think the standardisation was a good thing. Everyone using their own spelling would just cause dangerous misunderstandings. Lets face it, disputes and even wars have resulted from incorrect interpretations. I have great trouble with this terrible 'Text Speak' - but then I'm old!

I have a Whitman folder for the Statehood Quarters (I have friends in the states that supply me with them from circulation.) This folder has two plasic inserts that cover the front and back of each coin. While not protecting from atmosphere at least they are protected from Fingerprints!! - and maybe the card of the folder.

It's OK! It's quite legal. My wife is hooked on the smell of new books. When I get my new Coin Magazine or any new coin books, she just has to fan the pages and inhale her kick!

I have the same Spanish coin from a batch of detector finds bought on ebay (I wanted one particular coin) They were mostly in poor condition and the half real very worn. Also in the batch was a fragment of a Venetian coin. This is why I said that Medieval populace couldn't have been too fussy about the origin of their currency. Having said that, I was reading on a coin website (can't remember which!) about the money handed over during a card game in one of the Sharpe episodes and the information was that currency at the time was accepted from any country - people were still not fussy as to origin!

Hijacking accounts is happening. It happened to me. Though Ebay shut down my account before any damage was done! That is apart from the hassle of having to open a new account with a different name and opening a new Ebay address. I always thought that bank transfers were the dodgiest method?
