Communicating with it OK now !

  2. I reckon Nicole of Kings Lynn or York. (no S after OLE)
  3. Just beware of the multitude of Commercial 'reproductions' that are supposed to emboss some sort of identification that it is, in fact, a reproduction. Unfortunately some crooks are finding ways to erase this mark. So if it is a bit pricy, especially, scrutinise it carefully. A good magnifier is a must. Study the subject before spending much.
  4. This thread sucks. Squabbles about the outcome of a referendum!!! Out won get used to it, just as we had to when Labour won elections!
  5. Ahhh! The racist slur. The weapon of losers.
  6. Let's have a referendum on plastic - in or out.
  7. Can't say I see your point. People voted and in general elections they vote in their government. Pray tell me when we elected Jean-Claude Juncker?
  8. Lots of Remainers spitting their dummy out. We live in a democracy which means the MAJORITY rule. If you don't like it - try a dictatorship. (You can get a taste in the EU)
  9. Up here, In the back of beyond (Cumbria) we will have to wait until all the 2016 coins have passed through every hand down south before we will see any. Strike that - I discovered a 2016 10p today! Normally we don't see new issues until November/December !!!
  10. So you don't think his British logic is relevant? He's the only one I've heard in this campaign that makes any sense.
  11. I think the point is that he is warning America not to make the mistakes that the EU ( and UK) are making.
  12. This is the discussion, in America, but with a UK participant, Really had me transfixed and scared me rigid. Mainly because his forecasts all made sense and were purely logical.
  13. Jaggy, Chingford and Coin.G . Thank you ! You've saved my blood pressure by not having to reply !!!
  14. It still doesn't seem to sink in. You CAN get rid of GB politicians, you CAN'T get rid of Eurocrats, not even the European Parliament!!!
  15. So you're quite happy ton be ruled by faceless bureaucrats sitting in Belgium without of ever being able to influence the law making process? Don't quote the MEP's they can't even change a thin, as they've already admitted. At least we can get rid of our politicians if they mess up or get too big for themselves whereas there is no mechanism in the EU for the proles to change the gravy train riders. "forward to closer political union" is the avowed aim of Brussels. Has a familiar ring to it. Boris has nailed it. Who believe who?? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3593872/17bn-true-cost-immigration-UK-year.html and who's been manipulating statistics?

  18. I don't think anyone has mentioned the main reason for voting OUT, as I am, is the fact that the EU is run by a bunch of UNELECTED mandarins and the MEP's have at last admitted that they can change NOTHING! If someone, somewhere has said this before - I don't apologise for saying it again.
  19. Could be one of these although this is of Gratian But Valentinian also used the 'Warrior dragging captive' motif. Roman Gratian AE3 17mm circa 380
  20. Sen a picture to the British Museum. I've found them extremely helpful. Make sure to add diameter and weight.
  21. Books I find helpful are Wren's 'The Short-cross Coinage 1180-1247 Henry II to Henry III' & 'The Voided Long-cross Coinage 1247-1279' Withers' 'Halfpennies & Farthings. Edward III & Richard II' & 'Farthings and Halfpennies. Edward I & II' Also 'The Galata Guide to The Pennies of Edward I & II'. These suppliment my North's Vol. 1 & 2 which, to my mind, are essential. Prior reigns are similarly covered in individual publications and, if you're serious, can result in a very large library!!!
  22. Nutsaboutcoins said But they only charge £100 for a £100 coin and it comes with free packaging. BARGAIN! Not much of a bargain as this "legal tender" coin can't be spent! It can't be used in normal purchases!
  23. A Neat side-step by the Mint What are the legal tender amounts acceptable for the United Kingdom coins? Legal tender has a very narrow and technical meaning in the settlement of debts. It means that a debtor cannot successfully be sued for non-payment if he pays into court in legal tender. It does not mean that any ordinary transaction has to take place in legal tender or only within the amount denominated by the legislation. Both parties to a transaction are free to agree to accept any form of payment whether legal tender or otherwise according to their wishes. In order to comply with the very strict rules governing an actual legal tender transaction it is necessary, for example, to offer the exact amount due because no change can be demanded. Coins are legal tender throughout the United Kingdom for the following amounts: £100 - for any amount £20 - for any amount £5 (Crown) - for any amount £2 - for any amount £1 - for any amount 50p - for any amount not exceeding £10 25p (Crown) - for any amount not exceeding £10 20p - for any amount not exceeding £10 10p - for any amount not exceeding £5 5p - for any amount not exceeding £5 2p - for any amount not exceeding 20p 1p - for any amount not exceeding 20p
  24. Fine, Paulus, but as they fix the definition we've nowhere to go! As for paying fines in crowns, you've got to be fined first!!!
