  1. Latest on Ebay. Thought? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RICHARD-III-HAMMERED-SILVER-COIN-/222014390360?hash=item33b116c058:g:h~YAAOSwvUlWsnal
  2. OK! As no-one else has come forward - yet, I'll venture the first one as Henry III class 6x of Canterbury. My reference being Wren "The Short-cross Coinage 1180-1247. But I stand to be corrected! The second - I have no idea!!!
  3. Nice find! I don't think the 'punctuation mark' is intended. Perhaps a rough made blank before striking? If you look around your expanded clips you see much evidence for this!
  4. I'm just simple. I look at a coin and decide how much I'm willing to pay, then that's my limit! Mind you I'm old enough to have used Seaby's so I might be a bit parsimonious with my prices but, hey!, if I get it, it's a bonus!!
  5. I have always skipped 2 or 3 years between buying Spinks. After all it's only a rough guide to value. Anyone taking the prices as gospel deserve to get burned.
  6. I see there are more appearing on fleabay. Next they'll be taking a rasp to the coins to simulate plough damage!
  7. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Early-Hammered-Silver-Coin-LVN-DONIA-CIVIT-EFLBERHT-REX-/262216438360?hash=item3d0d515258:g:4EIAAOSwSdZWhCR9 Another "museum copy" masquerading as genuine?
  8. How did you count the edge milling? Used sellotape to ensure it didn't move and then marked off every 10 Sellotape on a coin???
  9. Another reason why I don't collect milled! - I acquire them from circulation. Good enough for me.
  10. WooHoo! I must regrade/revalue my example!!
  11. My collection must be priceless
  12. Thanks ,all. I'll still give it a miss at the way the price is going!!
  13. I concur with Clive. A superb book for the first examinations.
  14. It's just that the obverse scratches look deliberate "aging" to me. I'm just an old cynic. I would have thought they would extend to the legend if accidental.
  15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151849672413?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2648 What's the consensus on this one ? I'm just suspicious.
  16. In the wilderness of West Cumbria there are no clubs ( as far as I know) but so are dealers or shops to cater for my taste! So the forum and internet are my mainstay!!
  17. As an 85 year old, I feel you're taking the mickey .
  18. I agree. Pity we can't see the 'E' for certain identification. ( where's Clive when you want him?)
  19. Really terrible news, Peter. I don't drop in to the forum that much but to be greeted with your awful news has shocked me. Feeling for you ,mate. My condolences to you and your family.
  20. Surely the answer is easy. A fine for not voting and maybe we'd get the government the people REALLY want !
  21. They all look as fake as fudge to me. And yet.. people are bidding. I would agree. There are quite a few Anglo-Saxon Northumbrian appearing on Ebay lately just as pristine and definitely cast copies.
  22. Thank You! Another drop of information to add to other forgotten facts! Memory is for the young!
  23. Copulative omega Thanks for that. Now I can sleep happy !!! Moneyer mark perhaps ?
  24. What is the symbol between the M and O on the reverse?
  25. Clive just trying to make me even more jealous!!! Chris, If you do venture into the murky depths of Hammered for a book then you can use any of my coins on Omnicoin (for the lower end of the scale!) WARNING. The collection does wander a bit in coverage!
