  1. OK ! I'll challenge our experts to come up with just a grading for Henry II Tealby issues!
  2. Hmmm! Never though of my humble collection as an investment, rather the reverse! But it will never realise much anyway. Still this sort of chatter spoils it for me!
  3. Here's a 1834 sixpence I have. I think I asked on this site a couple of years ago if anyone knows the reason/originator. It appears to be MAB interlinked.
  4. As I crawl away into the shadows, I'd just like to remind you that a lot of members have to be content with the 'beat up' end of the market, and can soon pick up long and short cross cheaply. This allows aspirations to be achieved in the urge to follow any line of collecting (and makes identification that more rewarding!!!
  5. Should have gone to Specsavers!
  6. Just upping the brilliance of the screen soon reveals all!
  7. Very many felicitation all three and good coin hunting, either in the mud or from your armchair!
  8. Puzzled! Did your quiz and got all questions asked correct to be told I had only 10 of 12 right?
  9. All good wishes to all for the New Year. Hope you all manage to increase your collections in the manner you would hope for. I have a rescue tom cat any use as a swap, Peter?
  10. Me too! Books mainly though I think I did buy a coin from them - but a long time ago. Found the service first class!
  11. Now £200 I must be missing something but it is a very crude copy to me!
  12. Oh! Yes! and £47 and climbing! What have they seen that I haven't?
  13. Looks great to me. Have a look at some of the forum members' attempts! You tailor it to suit yourself not anyone else!!!
  14. Regrettably, I had a VF, but with a quarter segment missing, Cnut helmet penny. Regrettable because I sold that whole collection to buy my first computer! The coin cost £12 as I recall! That would be early '80s
  15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151522594085?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 Opinions? Looks dodgy to me!!!
  16. Very interesting ! Thanks for sharing. Such a Bonanza everyone dreams of but never seems to happen to me!!!!! A very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all and pleasant dreams of it happening to you!
  17. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coins-from-Mediaeval-Times-William-I-Silver-Coin-Henry-III-Gold-Coin-20d-/390958181307?pt=UK_Coins_BritishHammered_RL&hash=item5b06ec6bbb Do you think this is ethical? I know hardened collectors won't be fooled ....but beginners and juniors? I don't think most would read ALL the blurb.
  18. "Over £4k for the William I cannot justify (I have a Lotus Elan on my shopping list to put in the garage with my MG)" Now a collection of cars would be something! I was offered a very early car, complete with brass headlights, for £100 back in the '60s (in Malta) but that was a load of weekly wages and shipping back to UK would have broken the bank. Still, regretted it ever since. Can't remember the make, French I recall, but I've seen the same type going for mega bucks. Ah! Well!
  19. £3.6k? Oh! Dear! So near - so far! £22.75 (no K)
  20. I would collect Charles siege pieces but financial constraints prevent this
  21. I empathise with all the opinions expressed here but the constant 'pretty' output from the RM made me stop collecting milled a long time ago. I still prefer the Newark ninepence to the Charles shilling, probably for romantic reasons!! My Berwick offcentre conjures up mass panic of besieged armies and the 'killed' antoninianus conjures a desperate Roman soldiers pleas. Looking though my collection I can create a wealth of possibilities!!
  22. They don't have to be British to get the imagination going! I think this one must have been recovered from a shrine because it has been 'killed' as an offering. Gets you wondering what the donor was asking for!!
  23. I guess most of you guys would be left cold by this, whereas I spend lots of time wondering why the moneyer was so careless. Was it during conflict perhaps? Or because he was fulfilling some massive order for a ransom or payment for extra mercenaries? The possibilities are better than the cinema!
  24. Way to go Chris! Dragging us all into the 21st century! Pity there's no hammered I can download!
