I have the others, but I don't think they are up to publishing standard, being VF or VF+. Let me know & I;ll post them off. The £5's are in 2x2's but releasing them wont worry me. I'll just replace them in their prisons when they return!
  2. OK! I'll gradually build up my gallery here and leave the rest. It will take time, though, so keep checking!
  3. THanks for that, Bronze and Copper Collector, but I'll still maintain that, unless you are 'investing' i8n coins, the normal numismatist needs to be able to handle and ispect CLOSELY any coin he buys. I don't think slabbing will catch on in UK, except, as I say, for investors. Milled collectors may disagree of course!
  4. OK! So now I have pictures on this gallery, Omnicoin and Photobucket!!! What to do? Close the others or just leave them? If this facility was available when I started, I would not have opened the others. I have no idea how to close them, anyway. I can't find a 'delete account' anywhere!
  5. Coincraft and Spinks have no reference to the reversed 'E' either. Maybe you have a new find?
  6. I'm giving up on this one! Much the same as the majority of minor coins of this period, there never seems to be a really good example to use as the benchmark I've given up on my coin too! I'm just claiming it to be, as I quoted, Henry VI and let others argue!!! I suggest you do the same, Chrislamb
  7. If that IS an 'H' at 3-o-clock then it will not be Henry! More like Richard but the legend should read RICARDUS in that case - no H-, so that leaves us with yet another problem What say you, TomGoodHeart?
  8. I've been merrily posting coin pics in the gallery and have just begun to wonder - is there any limit to the number of coins /member you want to place? (having noticed your comment on bandwidth) [have you noticed, as you get older, the keys on the keyboard get smaller, requiring much editing! ]
  9. With 5 negatives I think you'll find he'll just press on as long as he can. This comes in the same category as those sellers that bury the word "copy" in a lot of verbage. Someone always falls for it.
  10. Playing with your gallery I think it's just what we need, but - a small niggle - Why must we post a "message" before we can upload. It doesn't appear anywhere. I'm just 'cut & paste'ing the title! It's a pity we can't upload batches, too! But great work, Chris
  11. Looks great, Chris. Now it can't be mistaken for that other site across the pond!
  12. Try deciding between a Canute helmet penny - and next week's shopping! Happy birthday Jon. Many more of them, with goodie bags of coins as presents!
  13. Very interesting - but stupid
  14. This has started me re-evaluating some of my more obscure coins, such as this one. I have it down as Henry VI (S1886) but now I'm doubting it! The trouble with poor examples, although researching them can be fun, is that they cause so much frustration! http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/900147.jpg
  15. I agree with you Tom, it certainly looks like ROSA to me too., and 5.30 to 6 0-clock is where it would appear. My Wren stops at Henry VII and I was plumping for Spinks 2077 as a result. Hadn't noticed the ROSA!
  16. Sorry Chris, but I'm too much of a collector to sell it! TomGoodheart, I had considered a Roman copy but, because of the head size and position, I'd rejected the idea. I should have stuck with it! Peter, I do have a 'Sterling' continental copy and was looking out for more, but the prices seem to have rocketed lately, so I'll have to pass! I'll stick with my Plantagenet collection for the moment. I did want to follow the Northumbrian Saxon Kings but, again, prices seem to have gone through the roof. It's especially galling as I had all these coins, with Canute and other Saxons in my original collection. But that was over 40 years ago. I sold the whole lot for £250 in order to buy my first computer (Sinclair build it yourself!) We all make mistakes, don't we!
  17. I woouldn't change too much, Chris. Being similar to other sites makes transfer between them easier, so probably more popular.
  18. OK! Tom. You win. Chris Rudd is of the oppinion that it's 4th century Romano-British or Gaulish copy of a Constantinian coin. This would fit with where it was found. The large profile head mislead me. I think it was also a little wishful thinking on my part!
  19. I like it! I like it! Great site now, Chris, but doesn't it look like one of your rival sites?
  20. To post pictures you have to use a host site such as Omnicoin or photobucket (there are many others out there, and I believe Chris is considering providing one on this site soon) You then use the web address to 'paste' the image here. Hope this helps. Sorry I can't help with identification - too modern for me!!!
  21. I'm just musing on the various edicts from the wonderful Health & Safety pundits. When will all coins have to have the health warning on each coin "Dangerous when swallowed" or "Not edible". Another problem we have is the value of metal exceeding the face value of the coin. I notice Hungary is the latest to find the problem. How about making sure there is a 'lead' value on all coins, the value of metal having to be rediculously small compared to the face. Problem is, we will end up with plastic money with a metallic thread. Sound familiar?
  22. There's no delete button!!!
  23. Hmm! I don't think that's close! Sorry. With some Paintshop Pro magic, I managed to make out "TIN" (I'd forgot celtic is read from the rim, not from the centre as in Roman & Saxon) That's his nose at the top, by the way!!! The reverse probably shows two metal workers(moneyers?) at a mushroom shaped anvil. The hammer is a typical type. I'm continuing the search and I'll let you know! Found in Lincolnshire. 13mm 1gm The nearest obverse I can find is the one in the line drawing, but it's Regini/Atrebates, so if the right type, what's it doing in Lincolnshire??
  24. I can make out an 'A' and a 'I' in front of the face (the photograph is not as clear as the actual coin) And I guess the reverse shows two metal workers at a mushroom shaped anvil. There's a hint of lettering underneath them. 'X's maybe?
