  1. It looks like a cheap medal type to me.
  2. 1862 die letter C with good lustre, nice! Please show us Jerry.
  3. I see that LCA have done a nice preview for their March Auction, if people are just interested in gold coins, or banknotes. No sign of any copper, bronze or silver coins yet.
  4. This sounds interesting, but i have no idea which coin is for sale. 🤔
  5. That is the oldest auction catalogue that i have seen. Very Interesting.
  6. I see that it sold within estimate, £110, so a nice result I think.👍
  7. 1848 is pretty good though!
  8. Would 'Altered on the neck' or whatever the problem is, be too difficult to do, instead of just 'Altered' ? I think not.
  9. Looks like a very nice florin to me. No reason to reject it that i can see.
  10. Nice pictures. I keep away from coins that look like this. As you can see, the first three coins look to have a sort of speckled surface. The last coin just looks like it has been polished.
  11. I see thst there are more "Cleaned at one time, now toning" etc half crowns in the next DNW auction. Such a shame, as they are very decent coins.
  12. I was going to bid on the1871 penny, and a few other pennies. Of course, work got busy just as that coin was about to be bid. It went for £700+, which was not a bad price. Lesson, take a day off work for next DNW auction!
  13. Yes, i noticed that too. What is wrong with tone or the odd mark on an old coin? Nothing. Totally baffled by cleaning, it is so unnecessary. I will be bidding on some pennies, but not the silver.
  14. I was looking at 1861 pennies the other day, i must have missed the f25.
  15. Sounds like a nice coin.
  16. That is very worrying to be honest. Were DNW not aware of this forgery? Obviously not, and neither were the bidders.
  17. Very interesting. I do wear cotton gloves when i handle my higher grade coins, and i don't drop them. They make valid points though and got a thumbs up from me.
  18. It looks like the 1969 50p is the next thing. One just sold on EBay for £15.00..
  19. Opposite thinking there, i like the cavity fill theory too.
  20. Plain stupid, yes. Should have known the law really. Keeping any as a 'momento' was just plain daft.
  21. Cromwell looks even more grumpy than usual.
  22. My bad, it is a half crown.
  23. Interesting. It looks like an 1824 pattern shilling, but dated 1825. Not an R6 price, so you are probably right.
  24. Well, they should have put the photo on their website in the first place tbh. But yes, they would have supplied if asked I guess.
