  1. I cannot think of anything better than counting teeth on these😁
  2. I got a first edition for about £100 about 5 years ago, from Canada I think. It really is a great book.
  3. I think not. Just a trick of the light in my opinion.
  4. They certainly got their money's worth out of those early 1860's dies.
  5. Of course, i should have mentioned the other engravers etc, not all down to Mr Wyon.
  6. I think that you are spot on as usual. Shame on Noonan's, but hopefully other buyers will notice what you have noticed about the 3 and 4d's.
  7. Well if Mr Wyon had not made any mistakes, the bronze coinage of 1860-63 would have been a lot less interesting.
  8. That was a brilliant sketch.
  9. That is some nice work with those 1856 pennies. I too was surprised at the amount of PT small dates that were found. Saltford Coins had a very nice one a few months ago.
  10. The 1856 plain trident have both the large date and small date, but i believe that the small date is rarer on those. However, the ornamental trident is only found with the small date as far as i know. So overall, probably the small date is slightly rarer.
  11. I would say small date.
  12. That was a lovely coin. It also said that it had the portrait from the 1866-1879 threepenc, so the second portrait. That would mean that it was from a later striking. Does that make sense?
  13. I doubt if there are many numismatists working with the police, or even been asked to help.(with there enquiries)
  14. I guess that there are a few members on here that did buy coins in 1969. I was born in 1969, so that is a few years before i bought any.
  15. Yes, shocking. I wonder if that is £250,000 retail and what the bullion value would be to those scumbag thieves.
  16. 1959 florin appears expensive in 1969. Nice info there David.
  17. Not sure how anybody could think that the 1847/8 was an 1847/6, a nice coin and obvious overdate.
  18. I see what you mean. At first glance it looks like a proof.
  19. Sorry, but why handle this coin without gloves?
  20. Graded as about fine, i would say overgraded, but still very decent for this type.
  21. Have you a list of coins that you are looking for, just out of interest? Somebody may have something for sale.
  22. Well if people are silly enough just to pay for slab numbers, without even worrying what the coin looks like, then they must have more money than sense. As for the grading companies overgrading, then i don't know what can be done about that.
