  1. He passed away in january 2015, aged 94.
  2. Indeed not Jon, but Dr Basil Nicholson certainly had a great collection😀
  3. Hi Jon, You need to look at the "Newly identified Pattern and Proof variants" page 217. Cheers, Ian
  4. Funnily enough, i just counted the denticles on the London Coins site, Auction 157, lot 2670. I counted 189 on the 3B coin, so no difference. I hope that this helps.
  5. I just have to add, that it was a mint state 1843 penny.
  6. This is very interesting. Just a few weeks ago, i saw a coin advertised at £425 at an online coin dealer's website.. The coin for sale obviously should have listed at £4250. I thought should i buy it, or not? I did not buy it, thinking that it could cause complications at some point. Anyway, the next time i looked on that site, maybe a week later, the coin was not for sale at all. I still wonder if somebody did get a bargain?
  7. Indeed, the 1854 florin looked maybe aef, so that was a decent price. I did bid on the 1922 penny at £950, but it was not my first choice, so only a half serious bid.
  8. Now that is a great win. Extremely nice and very rare. Congrats.
  9. I did not get the coin that i wanted. I bid on two others, but no good this time. How about you? Any bids jaggy?
  10. 1849 penny, it was war! Lovely coin that.
  11. So the live auction starts at 3pm, if i am not mistaken. And the bids already listed are just showing what people have bid already. An interesting auction to be sure. Looking at trying to get one coin in particular. Good luck everybody.
  12. Edit, 1970 double reverse penny.
  13. I liked that 1970 double obverse penny too. An interesting coin i thought.
  14. That is a super example though. When was the last time a better F112 has been sold, i wonder.
  15. Not an open 3, i don't think. But i guess that is what they are pitching it as, pricewise.
  16. Oh, my apologies oldcopper, getting both of them at once would be greedy. 😁I forgot to say copper pennies, so 1843, 1849 and 1860/59.
  17. Wow, there are some nice coins that i would like in that auction. 1863 florin and the three rarest pennies. I would be happy to get any of those.
  18. My email bid for the 1843 penny was not quite enough. DNW have one in their next auction, so fingers crossed for that one.
  19. A bit of a low estimate i thought. It says £2000-£4000. I was thinking that it would get at least £7000. We will soon find out VickySilver.
  20. Three beauties there Pete, especially that ME.
  21. Yes oldcopper, myself and vickysilver both loved that coin.
  22. Yes indeed. Poor/vg is nearer to the mark.
  23. The 1863 florin seems like an optimistic estimate. Vg/Nf £1250-£1500. I need one of these, bit i will not bid for this one.
  24. An interesting coin. Here is a slender 3 for comparisson.
