Hi, Picked this 1902 up today with an unusual (angular) 9, I've been looking through the posts and other sources for similar examples and can't find any, guessing it might be a common occurrence, can anyone advise? Thanks again

Thanks for bringing it over. Great to have them all in the same place. I think that the die crack over the F of F D confirms the same obverse die as Martin's.

Thank you i was just googling my old coin and this thread showed up, I am always finding something but nothing as rare as the Stephan penny, a nice little Alexander showed up Saturday.

I like the E&D/BG Wm IV coins as the busts are all taken from current Wm IV British coins, so this is his sixpence head, the guilder has the shilling bust, the 1/4 guilder has one of the maundy busts and the 2 and 3 guilders have the slightly amended halfpenny and penny busts.

the T over T in BRITT Die laws break through the T begins to look very strange

Here is the B over R I have I think it is possible that the error has occurred twice , Because mine is a reuse of the stumpy tailed R , the continuation can be seen beyond the B and of course in side. |I have seen also on London coins an B over R where the tail is the pointed R . So it may be that two types exist . The overstrike and repair seems to damage the die and the following die flaw may be a the B over R die which now breaks . This is of course a theory. on the reverse the 2 is doubled and the six a small 6 repair

I got it wrong 106 times at about £2 a shot , but I just donate them to MADaboutART charity I set up 20 years ago. My mistakes have raised enough to keep them going each year , I have 75 1862's 116 1861's with some kind of error or rare die and 85 1860's with some kind of error . So really that's not a bad hid rate ...these days I only buy them when I am sure there is something there. I have only been collecting since 2015 but I have enjoyed building up the collection for the charity. It has helped my brain heal after Chemo along with painting of course.

Starting with the H of HALF there are two overstrikes one more dramatic than the other , the second is a duplication in the bar shown better on the third example

This one has the second T of BRITT over a T high into the inner circle . On the reverse the E has been restruck and the N of PENNY is very strange remnants of a much smaller version . The 8 is very weakly struck

I use all the above AND Richards website.. I think I'll print it out and have a GREAT REFERENCE BOOK!!! It will just need to be updated periodically...

As you know I am relatively new to this variety business, but for what it's worth I think I agree on both those. F282 is Dies 7+G. Obverse 7 has the fourth leaf in the third lot down, which yours has. Reverse G has the door on the lighthouse, which yours does. F321 is dies 11+J. Reverse - it can only be J or L and L has the H of Halfpenny much closer to the lighthouse. With reverse J it can only be obverse 11 or 13, and the rose is too indistinct (I think) to be 13. Most of the other distinguishing features are worn away so only a best guess. ... but feel free to correct me!
