  1. Well everyone I have now completed my 1935 set of Denomination coins with this one off of eBay. Thanks to everyone that helped me, you know who you are. I have now to move on to the next set. I am happy with this nice and crisp and at last am getting better photo's although still struggling to get decent ones of the silver coins.

  3. Anybody with examples of Oxford 1643 or 1644 coins, any denominations, which have larger central plumes than the two either side above the declaration - pictures please. i.e halfcrowns with 1643 obverses H to L and reverses 22 to 29. Any 1644 halfcrowns with obverses A through to I and reverses 3 to 18, 21, 23, 25, 27-30, 32, 8a, 17a, 27a, 28a. That's 15 obverses and 35 reverses to aim for, so plenty of scope to help. I would also like any images of reverse 26, the one where the large plume has been rubbed down and a small one substituted in its place, this paired with a C1 obverse. Smaller denominations dated 1644 with three lis, the centre one being slightly larger would also be of use. A few dies only here. Obviously there are sites such as Lloyd Bennett with a large number of images, but I am looking for any that aren't imaged on his site, or that are much bigger even if pictured there. An example of the reverse design I am looking for is attached. Thanks in advance.

  5. The Latin more correctly translates as "to be feared from every side". Timenda is a gerundive (anyone remember them from their schooldays?!) which conveys a sense of obligation. Sorry... Classics teacher talking here!

  7. Best to buy a pair of trainers and remove the heel.Slip your coins in surrounded by white powder and Hey presto! Seriously just send them in a small package or even in a B/D card.

  8. I've always put 'numismatic items' or 'die-cast metal disks' on the paperwork... ...and always tell the PO that they are gaming tokens if they enquire further! ?

  11. ?. I know. My english isn't top but thats awlful. The moral of the story is avoid, far too much information. When an item comes on eBay with a tale that long its generally BS. Reported them both.

  12. My latest additions, nothing spectacular and not my usual area of collecting but a nice memento of my holiday in Canada. The quarter cent is supposed to glow in the dark.......it doesn't!!

  13. Thanks for the comments I bought it from a recommended dealer and was described as almost BU and I would agree not sure if you all would agree. The hairlines do annoy me slightly but the overall appearance in hand is very nice, the hairlines don't show up as much in hand viewed with the naked eye. I'm pleased with it and will happily keep this one I think Few more to post for your appraisal and comments.
