JLS Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Hmm I don’t see any obvious signs of tooling but it’s difficult to rule out ! Assume there would be still be the outline of the letter visible under a loupe due to the surface under the removed H being less toned ? Quote
Michael-Roo Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) As I've said before on here I don't often buy coins these days but will, once in a blue moon, spend an idle hour or so grubbing about on Ebay. It would seem there are still occasional bargains to be had as I've just bought this. BIN £1.50, and with free postage. Edited June 20, 2019 by Michael-Roo 9 Quote
Coppers Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Thought this looked familiar. It appears to be the same coin that went unsold in their March auction... https://www.sixbid.com/en/baldwins-of-st-james/5784/united-kingdom/4837647/edward-vii-proof-like-penny-1902?term=penny&orderCol=lot_number&orderDirection=asc&priceFrom&displayMode=large&auctionSessions= Quote

1949threepence Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 Here's the F38 I won earlier this week. Not a great specimen but extremely rare, and another Freeman type off the list. 2 Quote

1949threepence Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Pleased to have located and bought a decent F164 specimen, now freed from its NGC slab (MS64, No 1754587-007 slabbed 25.7.07). They're actually quite tricky to get, especially in decent grade. 2 Quote

Paddy Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Picked up this amongst a bag of otherwise junk and modern stuff yesterday. Slight upgrade for me and always nice to get one of the scarcer ones: 1875 H Penny, Dies 8 + J, F85 I believe: 2 Quote

Peckris 2 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Nice, but another grossly overworked obverse die! Quote

The best 1921 I've seen was posted by @zookeeperz in May 2018. Although it is Obverse 3 (F191). Fully struck up both sides, with outstanding hair detail, it's probably one of the best, if not the best, you'll ever see. link to it 1 Quote
jelida Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Here are a few of my recent acquisitions, the F169 is the Baldwins one, cheap enough at a bit over £500, the rest are from Ebay, a tenner for the Gouby X, less for the 1875 cannonball and 1860 Gouby G with very close colon dots. And I always said date spacings didn't float my boat but was tempted by the 1904 with 4 over tooth -just about- it is not exactly the same as the variation shown in Groom but either way seems scarce.
