  1. Today I took this to Format Coins in Birmingham, where Garry Charman took not much time at all to confirm it is 100% legitimate. He did say it had had a hard life. 90% knackered, perhaps, but genuine. ?
  2. Ok, at least they didn't mess you about. Wonder how he got on with LCA?
  3. Do you think these might both be the same thing bagerap? Certainly seems similar here, to me:
  4. Must get my detector out. It's only about 30 years old.
  5. Nah, I meant the pair of identical, consecutive lot half crowns but your post got in the way.
  6. Did anyone point it out to them (the half crowns)? What happened with the one you bought from Bucks Paul?
  7. Posting them's easy. It's taking good ones in the first place that I have difficulty with.
  8. Some pictures would be nice VS. Please.
  9. If they call me I'd be more likely to use words like "defenestration". Although these days I just answer (so it costs them money), then just leave the phone on the side and wander off, à la Nordle.
  10. It's in the above post.
  11. Thanks both. Might be able to go to the January one if I've any cash left after Christmas.
  12. Anyone know when it is please? Need to combine a visit to my sister, preferably before Christmas. Cheers, Jon
  13. The halfpenny's a little better:
  14. Thank you. Slightly embarrassed to admit I'd never looked at the Sheldon scale in too much detail.
  15. I don't know. Do they give a higher grade for a better strike?
  16. I don't see how the grade relates to the strike. An uncirculated coin with a weak strike is still uncirculated. Less desirable, certainly, but surely the grade relates to the relative wear of what left the mint?
  17. From the same seller, this. Being what appears to be a reasonably high grade 11 leaf cartwheel penny, which is on my shopping list, I asked for better pictures. I was told, in a nutshell, "no, trust me, it's great." Within a few hours the price had gone up from £695 to £875. I wouldn't have touched it with the proverbial stick at the lower price.
  18. It's yours. You can do whatever you like with it. I'd like to know what grade it gets - I'd say it was aEF albeit with a slightly weak reverse.
  19. I like it. It's not a disgrace, a thrower, or shite. I've got plenty worse than that in my collection. I wouldn't have it slabbed mind...
  20. I like the extra face on that one.
  21. My answer stands. Other way round for me. The pleasure's in the ownership. I can look at anyone's pictures but if it's mine I can hold it, inspect it, admire it.

  23. All ones I'm after, and I've seen a lot worse than those.
