  1. I had a nice reply from the seller. As it was the only coin he had for sale I think it may have been a genuine mistake. He's deleted the listing.
  2. I've contacted the seller and have told him its a modern repro cast in pewter. Let's see if the description changes.
  3. I managed eight and a half minutes before wanting to slit my wrists…… YAWN I thought hobbies were supposed to be fun .
  4. From Hong Kong? Heavens. What surprise……...
  5. Judging grade from photos is one thing, a coin having been cleaned is another. If cleaning isn't apparent in the photos (which is the case here ) then I think you have a legitimate complaint as the item wasn't accurately described. Also: whether a seller does or doesn't offer refunds is irrelevant. As a buyer of anything, anywhere, you have the right to request a refund if not satisfied.
  6. Sorry Dave. My wife slapped my hand away in the nick of time. 'OOh er Missus'. And all that…..
  7. He's even managed to find an example which has crap stuck to the obverse. £135 'buy it now'. Help! Please! Hold me back someone. My finger is being drawn to the button………………
  8. Many happy returns to Tom, Colin, and Muy. Have a good day one and all.
  9. Yikes, that's ugly!
  10. He added WRL to the description now. Not the words "replica" though. Didn't realise but you can see the feedback they give to others. He leaves negatives prior to contacting the seller to sort out the problem if he's not happy. Would pretty much always seek resolution and leave a positive if handled properly. I see it now stands at £40.99 with five bids and three hours to go! I simply don't get it. Even if bidders haven't scrolled down to the bottom of the page where he's added 'WRL' the stamp is clearly obvious in the reverse photos.
  11. 17th century mint employees drinking tea on a work break? They must have been earning more than I had imagined!
  12. What else was there in the box. Anything interesting?
  13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/coin-sixpence-1562-/231433275495?pt=UK_Coins_BritishHammered_RL&hash=item35e27f8867
  14. Following Stuart's suggestion I'm moving my requests for Everson IDs from 'Acquisition of the Week' over to here. Makes much more sense to continue this under the British Hammered' banner. Anyway: Here's another. Interestingly, this one is badly cut and includes part of the beaded border of the next coin on the strip. What is the PM? To me it looks like an acorn.
  15. I've received this reply from the seller, but I see the listing remains unchanged. New message from: jbro80005 (190) ok cheers Reply YOU: Hi Jbro, The Henry VIII groat you have listed is a modern pewter (not silver) replica made by WRL. If you look at the reverse you will see their stamp to the left of the shield. These replicas are sold on presentation cards and are available on line and in museum gift shops for a couple of pounds each. Kind regards, Mchael
  16. Done. As well as drawing his attention to WRL being clearly stamped in the reverse field I've also told him its not silver. At least the buyer will be able to return under the 'not as described' option if he/she realises the mistake once the 'coin' is received.
  17. I would've bid on that if I'd known about it. I guess you would have too?
  18. Possibly a poorly made facsimile intended for a cheap item of jewellery?
  19. Blowed if I know. Poor workmanship, whatever it is. And why 'GILT' on the reverse? 18 bids on it already I see.
  20. Are you sending yourself up? There's a spelling error in your question. Chris is just pulling your leg.
